Only David De Gea (10) and Petr Cech (8) have kept more clean sheets than Nick Pope (7) in the Premier League this season, with the Burnley man wracking up 20.50 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points in midweek. With seven saves and one cross claim, the Clarets shotstopper churned out another solid showing in a 1-0 win over Stoke.
DEFENDER – SERGE AURIER
If you’re going to score your first league goal in exactly two years, you may as well do so in style. Serge Aurier’s cross looped over Mat Ryan to give Tottenham the lead on Wednesday night, while two tackles and two dribbles saw the Ivorian gain a WhoScored rating of 8.54 to earn a place in the team of the week and 19.90 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points.
DEFENDER – MAYA YOSHIDA
It was an evening to forget for Southampton, who were smashed 4-1 by Leicester on Wednesday night. Maya Yoshida, though, at least scored a consolation goal to earn 13.45 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points in a forgettable match for Saints.
DEFENDER – DARYL JANMAAT
Like Yoshida, Daryl Janmaat was on the losing side as Watford fell to a late 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace, but the Dutchman was on hand to score the Hornets’ only goal of the game. The Dutchman did all he could to help Watford to a positive result as he made two tackles and two interceptions to return 14.20 points with Yahoo! Fantasy Football.
MIDFIELDER – DAVID SILVA
David Silva has been in great form of late and bagged a brace at Swansea in midweek as Manchester City secured a record breaking 15th successive Premier League win. The Spaniard did enough to earn to 29.65 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points and a place in the WhoScored Premier League team of the week.
MIDFIELDER – KEVIN DE BRUYNE
Sticking with Manchester City, Silva’s teammate Kevin De Bruyne earns a place in this XI having netted in the 4-0 win over Swansea, picking up 17.10 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points in the process. The Belgian also made two key passes and completed four dribbles to gain a place in the highest scoring XI.
MIDFIELDER – TIEMOUE BAKAYOKO
Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has come under criticism of late, but netted the opener in their 3-1 win over Huddersfield on Tuesday night. The former Monaco man also made two tackles and two interceptions to yield 15.45 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points.
MIDFIELDER – WILLIAN
Remaining with Chelsea, Willian was in excellent form against Huddersfield, scoring one and assisting two and marked the first time the Brazilian has ever had a direct hand in three Premier League goals in a single match. The 29-year-old earned 21.55 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points and the WhoScored man of the match award in the victory.
UTILITY – RIYAD MAHREZ
Riyad Mahrez has been in great form since Claude Puel took charge and netted another Premier League goal, his fifth of the season, in Leicester’s 4-1 win over Southampton. The Algerian earned 18.15 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points in midweek, reinforcing just why he is a top-20 in-form player.
STRIKER – SHINJI OKAZAKI
Mahrez isn't the only Leicester player to feature in this XI as Shinji Okazaki gained more Yahoo! Fantasy Football points (37.85) and a better WhoScored rating (9.38) than any other player in gameweek 17. The Japanese star scored two and assisted one in the Foxes’ resounding win over Southampton.
STRIKER – SERGIO AGUERO
Rounding off the XI is Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, who netted one in the 4-0 win over Swansea. Matching the strike force in the WhoScored Premier League team of the week, Aguero completed four dribbles and made one key pass to gain 20.15 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points.
