- Malky Mackay named an unchanged Staggies side, which lost to Kelty Hearts on penalty kicks in Dingwall as they concluded their League Cup campaign, as County fell to an eventual 4-2 defeat in Glasgow to reigning champions Celtic.
- The Staggies could hand a debut to 25-year-old defender Ryan Leak who has signed from Salford City. George Harmon, Jack Baldwin and Will Nightingale started in front of Ross Laidlaw in a back three.
- Josh Sims and second goalscorer James Brown were asked to provide the width as wing-backs. Victor Loturi and Connor Randall were in front of the back three, as Yan Dhanda supported first goalscorer Jordan White and Simon Murray in attack.
- Steven MacLean made six changes from the St Johnstone side that was humiliated at home by reigning League 2 champions Stirling Albion as the Binos won 4-0 at McDiarmid Park, before Hearts came to Perth and beat Saints 2-0 on Saturday.
- Dimitar Mitov replaced the injured Ross Sinclair between the sticks and impressed against the Jambos. New signings Oludare Olufunwa and Sam McClelland made their debuts in Saints' back four, replacing Liam Parker and the injured James Brown.
- Max Kucheriavyi, Alex Ferguson and Luke Jephcott all dropped onto the bench, with Graham Carey, Drey Wright and Ryan McGowan taking their places. There was a spot among the substitutes for midfielder Matt Smith who has signed from MK Dons.
