  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named one enforced change to the Dons team that drew 1-1 with St Johnstone last midweek, before their 2-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon.
  • Kelle Roos continued in goal behind Nicky Devlin Stefan Gartenmann and Jack MacKenzie. However, Slobodan Rubezic is injured so Richard Jensen took his place. Graeme Shinnie and Connor Barron sat in front of the back four once more.
  • Leighton Clarkson was slightly further forward, with Jamie McGrath and Dante Polvara either side of him, supporting lone striker Bojan Miovski who had a goal chopped off in Edinburgh but had netted in back-to-back games before that.
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named four changes to the Dee team that fell to a crazy 3-2 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle last midweek, before bouncing back with an emphatic 4-1 victory at Livingston on Saturday afternoon.
  • Harry Sharp was chosen between the sticks, replacing Trevor Carson. Mo Sylla and Finlay Robertson replaced Lyall Cameron - who slotted the Dee two to the good in Edinburgh - and Malachi Boateng in the middle of the park.
  • Scott Tiffoney was chosen to partner Amadou Bakayoko in attack, as Zach Robinson had to settle for a spot amongst the substitutes. However, both he and new signing Michael Mellon scored from the bench, adding to Bakayoko and Luke McCowan's goals and are both pushing to start in this one.

Prediction

  • Eighth hosts seventh, as Aberdeen trail Dundee by two points in the Scottish Premiership standings before the two teams meet in midweek at Pittodrie.
  • The Dons' dismal record at Tynecastle continued, as they are winless against Hearts in Edinburgh since May 2017, as Aberdeen trail Hearts by 19 points with this game one of three that they have in hand. They've been struggling to keep up - as is reflected in their league position - and they're continuing to play catchup with pressure mounting at Pittodrie. A win here would be a huge help.
  • Dundee were disappointed with their defeat to Hearts as they collapsed in the capital in midweek, but responded emphatically by clinching their second successive win away to Livingston for the first time since May 2019. Time goes on and a relegation scrap looks unlikely so perhaps the Dee could spring a surprise by mounting a challenge for the top six upon their return to the top tier.
  • These two teams haven't met in the Scottish Premiership yet this season, but Dundee will feel as though there's no reason why they can't hold Aberdeen at home here.
