Team News

Livingston
St. Johnstone
  • Davie Martindale named four changes to the Livingston team that fell to a defeat up north away to Aberdeen 2-1 on Wednesday night, before Celtic swept them aside on Saturday 2-0 at Parkhead.
  • Jack Hamilton replaced Shamal George between the sticks. Ayo Obileye was the only defender to retain his place, as Tom Parkes and Luiyi De Lucas took Mikey Devlin and Michael Nottingham's places in the back three.
  • The only other alteration saw Kurtis Guthrie, who ended Livi's goal drought of just under two months, make way for Bruce Anderson to start as the Lions' sole striker at Celtic Park.
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named four changes to the Saints team that fell to a 2-0 defeat against Rangers at Ibrox, before it was more away day despair as they lost 2-1 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
  • Ryan McGowan returned to the Saints defence, at Andy Considine's expense, to join club captain Liam Gordon and Luke Robinson. Tony Gallacher took Oludare Olufunwa's spot in the team to start at left wing-back.
  • Graham Carey came back into midfield, as Sven Sprangler dropped to the bench, after being the matchwinner the weekend before. Chris Kane replaced the suspended Diallang Jaiyseimi but Nicky Clark came off the bench to score so could start here.

Prediction

  • Both Livingston and St Johnstone are looking to get over back-to-back defeats in the Scottish Premiership, with seven points separating the two teams in the league table.
  • For rock-bottom Livi, this is a huge match that - if they win - could see them cut the gap to some fellow relegation rivals if they picked up a precious three points. However, goals have been hard to come by recently so there's big pressure to make their chances count alongside attempting to keep it tight at the back. Having only won two league games so far, a third here would be vital.
  • St Johnstone felt the initial impact of a 'new manager bounce' but, just like Livingston, have faced some tough tests in their last two Scottish Premiership matches. The incentive to pull 10 points clear of the Lions - despite playing a game more - with a win here should be a big inspiration. A victory would aid their quest for survival, hoping to avoid a basement battle later on in the season.
  • This match sees the Premiership's two lowest-scoring teams go toe-to-toe, but St Johnstone could slide further towards safety if they can nick it against a Livingston side who look in deep trouble.
