Team News

Dundee FC
Ross County
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named five changes to the Dee team that lost 2-0 to St Mirren in Paisley last midweek, before a 2-1 victory over St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
  • The Dee switched to a back four, as Aaron Donnelly replaced Lee Ashcroft in the Dundee defence. Jordan McGhee netted the winner from right wing-back alongside Joe Shaughnessy in the centre and Liverpool loanee Owen Beck on the left.
  • Mo Sylla and Scott Tiffoney took Owen Dodgson and Michael Mellon's places in the midfield, both of whom were on the bench. Malachi Boateng and Curtis Main are both injured but Amadou Bakayoko and Zach Robinson came in to lead the line.
  • Interim Ross County boss Don Cowie named five changes to the Staggies side that was thumped 5-0 away at relegation rivals Motherwell, before a 3-1 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday night in their midweek match.
  • Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Will Nightingale dropped out of defence, as Ryan Leak and Michee Efete joined Loick Ayina in the back three. George Harmon and Teddy Jenks dropped out of the four man midfield, replaced by Josh Reid and Victor Loturi.
  • Yan Dhanda kept his place in support of the Staggies' strikers. Eamonn Brophy was handed a rare start up front, accompanying midweek goalscorer Simon Murray in attack, at Jordan White's expense.

Prediction

  • Newly-promoted Dundee sit ten points clear of Ross County, who are hoping to climb out of the relegation playoff place in the Scottish Premiership table after occupying it last season.
  • The Dee grabbed a much-needed Tayside derby victory over St Johnstone, which saw them ascend into the top six spots. The target now is to stay there or climb even higher so if they can find some consistency over the likes of Aberdeen and Hibernian, who play one another at Pittodrie this weekend, and Motherwell then they'd cap off a wonderful first season back in Scotland's top tier.
  • Ross County's objective is simply to survive. It took a relegation playoff victory over Partick Thistle last season and, dependent on the opponent, they'll be hoping that history can repeat itself. They trail St Johnstone, who just lost to Dundee at Dens, by five points but also have a game in hand. However, they'll have to win games instead of relying on other teams doing them favours.
  • Ross County are yet to score against Dundee, having met them twice, in the league this season. The Dee left it late in Dingwall but will hope for a second league victory over the Staggies, having won at their place back in December.
