Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is expecting a quiet transfer window next month, unless players are sold first.
The Portuguese manager invested heavily in the squad over the summer, bringing in the likes of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.
United have been linked with a number of defensive reinforcements, with Benfica defender Victor Lindelof rumoured to be the club’s priority next month.
Mourinho, though, has insisted that he is not actively looking to spend in the transfer market in January, though would be looking to replace a number of players who are unhappy at the club and are willing to leave Old Trafford.
"I am quiet and calm and see what happens. As I was saying, I would like to keep my squad the same,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports ahead of United’s 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday.
"But as a manager I never feel I have the right to stop people to try to be happier and to try to give a different direction for their careers.
"So if the conditions are right for the club and that moment arrives during the month of January, then we will have to react so let's see what happens.
“But if you ask me in this moment, am I waiting for someone to be here on January 1, or are we chasing some player because on that date we want to have here a new player? Not at all."
Victory over West Brom moved United to within three points of rivals Manchester City ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.
