FPL Gameweek 28 Tips: The must-have Bournemouth stars for their double-gameweek

Ahead of what would appear to be an extremely favourable double gameweek for Bournemouth in Fantasy Premier League as they take on both Sheffield United and Luton at home, we’ve taken a look at four Cherries assets to bring into your side ahead of the weekend.

Goalkeeper - Neto

Bournemouth stopper Neto ranks joint-fourth among Premier League goalkeepers for clean sheets, with six to his name so far this season. The Brazilian, though, ranks even higher when it comes to total points in FPL so far this campaign. His 90 points thus far can only be bettered by four other goalkeepers, and boasts just a 5.0% ownership.

Neto’s total of 89 saves so far ranks highly too, while the 34-year-old is also one of just five goalkeepers to have saved a penalty in the Premier League this season. At a price-point of just £4.6m, the Bournemouth man is one of the cheaper first-choice number ones in the division, and looks a smart selection ahead of this double gameweek.

Defender - Adam Smith

With Bournemouth’s number one defensive asset Marcos Senesi ruled out for the weekend, FPL managers may have to look to an alternative Cherries defender. While many will make the case for Ilias Zabarnyi or even Milos Kerkez, we’ve chosen Adam Smith as the man for your team.

After a clean sheet at Burnley last time out, the south coast side can be expected to be equally defensively sound against the other two sides in the relegation zone. And when Bournemouth win, Smith’s points returns tend to be solid; in their four-match winning run back in December, Smith averaged a return of 5.5 points per game.

The 32-year-old also registered an assist in Bournemouth’s 3-1 victory away to Sheffield United earlier this season, and with just 0.4% ownership, looks a smart pick at £4.4m.

Midfielder - Antoine Semenyo

Fresh from scoring his fifth league goal of the season at Turf Moor last weekend, Antoine Semenyo looks a great option ahead of Bournemouth’s double gameweek. The 24-year-old has scored in two of his last three outings, with the only blank coming against a defensively solid Manchester City team.

Semenyo also returned two bonus points in matches against Burnley and Newcastle, and you’d fancy him to have plenty of chances in front of goal against two of the Premier League’s leakiest backlines.

At just £4.5m and 2.5% ownership, Semenyo could be the midfield differential you need to climb those mini-leagues over the double gameweek. So what are you waiting for?

Forward - Dominic Solanke

Perhaps the most obvious selection when it comes to Bournemouth is striker Dominic Solanke, who is enjoying his best Premier League season to date. Solanke’s remarkable season can be illustrated by the fact that only eight players across the Premier League have racked up more fantasy points than him so far. Among forwards, only Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins have returned more than Solanke’s 130.

Compared with those two goalscorers, Solanke’s upcoming fixtures are much kinder in comparison. Bournemouth now face four fellow bottom-half teams in a row, with each of those matches coming at home. Haaland, meanwhile, faces Liverpool and then Arsenal, while Watkins will be preparing for Tottenham and West Ham.

It should come as no surprise then, given the double gameweek, that at the time of writing, Solanke has been transferred in to 364,314 teams. That’s at least 108,000 more than the next most popular player.
