Bissouma heads Tottenham trio in Premier League Team of the Month

Tottenham dominate the Premier League team of the month for August having made a fine start under Ange Postecoglou, with three Spurs players making the cut. Brentford, Manchester City and Brighton all have two representatives each in the XI, while Fulham and Crystal Palace round off the side.

Bernd Leno (Fulham) - 7.77

Fulham have endured an indifferent start to the season, picking up four points from their opening four games, and they largely have Bernd Leno to thank for ensuring they only shipped five goals in August. Indeed, Leno made at least six more saves (22) than any other goalkeeper last month to return a WhoScored rating of 7.77.

Joachim Andersen (Crystal Palace) - 8.07

Only Manchester City (1) shipped fewer goals than Crystal Palace (2) in the Premier League last month, with Joachim Andersen key at the back for the Eagles. Only Thiago Silva and teammate Jefferson Lerma (14) won more aerial duels than Andersen (13) in August, while 16 clearances ranked fifth to help land a WhoScored rating of 8.07.

Cristian Romero (Tottenham) - 7.47

Cristian Romero is the first of three Tottenham players in the Premier League team of the month having impressed at the back for Ange Postecoglou's side. Romero scored the first league goal of the Australian's rein, though did have to come off shortly after netting in the draw with Brentford, and was solid at the back having made 10 tackles and interceptions combined, and 10 clearances, to garner a WhoScored rating of 7.47.

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) - 7.40

With a WhoScored rating of 7.40, Ethan Pinnock rounds off the backline. Like Andersen, Pinnock also won 13 aerial duels in August, and ranked fourth for clearances (18) last month as the Brenford centre-back once again excelled for Thomas Frank's side.

Solly March (Brighton) - 7.97

The first of two Brighton players to make the cut, Solly March has picked up where he left off this season garnering a WhoScored rating of 7.97 in August. March netted three league goals last month - no player scored more - and made 11 tackles and interceptions combined as he once again excelled under Roberto De Zerbi.

Yves Bissouma (Tottenham) - 7.82

One player really benefiting from Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham appointment is Yves Bissouma, and this is reflected in his WhoScored rating of 7.82 for August. No player made more tackles than Bissouma (12) last month, while nine successful dribbles ranked third to justify his inclusion.

Rodri (Manchester City) - 8.30

With a WhoScored rating of 8.30, Rodri is the Premier League player of the month. The Spaniard was directly involved in three goals in August, scoring twice, and made more accurate passes (343) than any other player in the division to contribute towards his inclusion as the best rated player.

James Maddison (Tottenham) - 7.81

Rounding off the Tottenham contingent is summer addition James Maddison. Like Rodri, Maddison was directly involved in two goals in August, albeit netting once, as he provided a pair of assists on his Premier League debut. Those two assists came from nine key passes, the eighth best return, to help yield a WhoScored rating of 7.81

Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) - 7.64

The second Brighton player in the side features on the left flank, with Kaoru Mitoma rounding off the midfield. The Japanese winger was directly involved in three goals last month, providing two assists, while his goal was a superb individual effort in the 4-1 win at Wolves. Only teammate Pascal Gross (14) and Manchester City's Julian Alvarez (12) made more key passes than Mitoma (11) in August to contribute towards a WhoScored rating of 7.64.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 7.55

Like Solly March, Erling Haaland also scored three times in August, those three goals coming from 16 shots; no player managed more. The Norwegian also created four goalscoring chances to feature on the frontline with a WhoScored rating of 7.55.

Yoane Wissa (Brentford) - 7.45

Partnering Haaland in attack and rounding off the team is the second Brentford player in the side. Yoane Wissa scored twice in August, those coming in meetings with Tottenham and Fulham, and mustered 12 shots last month, the fourth most. As such, Wissa is good value for his inclusion with a WhoScored rating of 7.45.
