Champions League round-up: The star men from Tuesday’s action

A run through the WhoScored Man of the Match awards from Tuesday's Champions League action.

Galatasaray 2-3 FC Porto - Garry Rodrigues - 7.88 rating

Despite falling to defeat at home to FC Porto, it was Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues that finished as the WhoScored Man of the Match. The 28-year-old provided one assist and drew Iker Casillas into a save with all four of his attempts on goal. Rodrigues was also fouled four times.

Schalke 1-0 Lokomotiv Moscow - Maciej Rybus - 8.27 rating

Lokomotiv Moscow were already eliminated before tonight’s match in Germany but they gave a good account of themselves without ever really troubling Schalke. Maciej Rybus was most impressive for the visitors, particularly when carrying out his defensive work. The 29-year-old left-back won eight tackles and three interceptions. Not only that, but he also won four aerial duels and made six clearances.

Club Bruges 0-0 Atletico Madrid - Saul Niguez - 7.50 rating

Atletico Madrid will be kicking themselves for squandering first place in Group A after only managing a 0-0 draw away to Club Bruges. No player particularly covered themselves in glory but Saul Niguez pipped the WhoScored star man award away from Bruges midfielder Marvelous Nakamba. Saul, who was forced to adapt at left-back once again due to Atletico’s injury crisis in defence, won five aerial duels and as many interceptions, while also completing two clearances.

Monaco 0-2 Borussia Dortmund - Raphael Guerreiro - 9.62 rating

Borussia Dortmund capitalised on Atletico’s shock draw to finish top of Group A courtesy of a brace from Raphael Guerreiro. The 24-year-old’s career has drifted somewhat in the last 12 months but he has enjoyed a remarkable Champions League campaign. Guerreiro, who also scored a brace against Atletico earlier in the campaign, netted twice from four attempts against Monaco. The Portugal international also registered four key passes, made four interceptions and was one of only three players to amass more than 100 touches of the ball.

Barcelona 1-1 Tottenham - Ousmane Dembele - 7.85 rating

Ousmane Dembele has now scored or assisted in his last five Barcelona appearances after opening the scoring against Tottenham with a stunning sole goal, capitalising on Kyle Walker-Peters’ error on his full Champions League debut. The 21-year-old also registered two key passes, won two aerial duels, won three dribbles and as many fouls. If Dembele can sort his off-field problems, then he will surely develop into a world-beater at Barcelona.

Inter 1-1 PSV Eindhoven - Jeroen Zoet - 8.18 rating

Inter will be hugely disappointed to have only managed a draw at home to PSV and in doing so miss out on second place in Group B to Tottenham. The Serie A side were far from their best but PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet still played a major part in the stalemate. The 27-year-old made eight saves and successfully claimed two crosses.

Liverpool 1-0 Napoli  - Trent Alexander-Arnold - 8.28 rating

Liverpool should have ran out comfortable winners but in the end required a superb last-ditch Alisson save to secure their place in the next round. There were a number of standout performers, including 20-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold. The England international was immense at both ends. Alexander-Arnold registered six key passes, completed two dribbles and had two shots, while also making six tackles and interceptions combined.

FK Crvena Zvezda 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain - Kylian Mbappe - 9.07 rating

Paris Saint-Germain survived a minor scare midway through the match but ended up comfortable 4-1 winners away to Serbian side FK Crvena Zvezda, with teenage wonderkid Kylian Mbappe the pick of the bunch. Mbappe has played a direct hand in seven goals in six group stage matches this season after scoring one and registering two assists on Tuesday night.
