3. Bukayo Saka - Arsenal (9.40 rating) 

 

Arsenal got their Europa League campaign off to a flying start as they trounced last season’s semi-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in Germany. In arguably their toughest group test, the Gunners passed with flying colours as youngster Bukayo Saka put in a man of the match performance. The teenager earned a WhoScored rating of 9.40 against Eintracht as he had a direct hand in all three goals, scoring once and assisting twice. 

 

No player made more key passes than Saka (5) in the first round of Europa League group stage matches, while three successful dribbles and one tackle contributed to his solid WhoScored rating with the Arsenal forward more than warranting a spot in the Europa League team of the week.

2. Claudiu Keseru - Ludogorets (10.0 rating) 

 

Ludogorets absolutely tore CSKA Moscow to shreds in Bulgaria on Thursday night, romping to a 5-1 win as they excelled on their first Europa League group match of the campaign. Experienced striker Claudiu Keseru played a starring role in the resounding victory, with the Romanian bagging a hat-trick in a 10-out-of-10 performance. 

 

The Romanian’s trio of goals came from six shots, while two key passes and one dribble were both notable as Keseru excelled on the Ludogorets frontline.

1. Nicolo Zaniolo - Roma (10.0 rating) 

 

Pipping Keseru to the player of the week gong, Nicolo Zaniolo showed just why he attracted so much attention over the summer as Roma smashed Istanbul Basaksehir 4-0 in Italy. The 20-year-old attacker had a direct hand in three of their four goals, scoring one and assisting two from returns of four shots and three key passes, respectively. 

 

Zaniolo also completed more dribbles (10) than any other player in the first round of Europa League group stage fixtures in a fine attacking performance from the Roma ace as he secured a WhoScored rating of 10.0.
