Team News

Mallorca
Athletic Club
  • Franco Russo has returned from suspension, but Amath Ndiaye replaces him on the banned list.
  • Dominik Grief and Iddrisu Baba are both doubts.
  • Vedat Muriqi could well start up top after scoring on his debut last time out.
  • Unai Vencedor is a doubt, while Nico Williams misses out through injury.
  • Inigo Martinez is a big blow through suspension, with Yeray Alvarez likely to replace him
  • Oscar de Marcos could get the nod at right-back ahead of Inigo Lekue.

Prediction

  • Mallorca come into this one on the back of a huge win last time out, completing a comeback win over Cadiz, though rather controversially with two interesting penalty decisions. Nevertheless, Salva Sevilla and new boy Vedat Muriqi took care of business from the spot to secure the big win against a relegation rival.
  • The Balearic side are now have now put a five-point gap between themselves and the bottom three despite falling to back-to-back defeats before the Cadiz win, losing to Villarreal and bottom club Levante.
  • Athletic Club secured a 2-1 win over Espanyol in their last La Liga outing, with Oihan Sancet and Inigo Martinez scoring the all-important goals. Strangely, all three goals in that game came in the first 16 minutes.
  • The Lions are now in eighth place and within a point of both the top seven and the top six.
  • Marcelino's men were also in Copa del Rey action during the week, facing Valencia in the semi-finals first leg, and they could only manage a draw despite the away side having 10 men for the second half. Raul Garcia was on target for the Lions.
  • Mallorca will be buoyed by that big win over Cadiz, but Athletic Club are the superior team, and their high-level organisation will likely make them too difficult for the home side to break down. An away win is the most likely outcome here.
