Team News

Arsenal
Liverpool
  • Arsenal look set to be without injured trio Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey and Fabio Vieira, while Takehiro Tomiyasu remains at the Asian Cup with Japan.
  • Emile Smith Rowe could keep his place in the starting XI, having started against Nottingham Forest in midweek.
  • Jurgen Klopp will remain without Mohamed Salah, despite Egypt's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations, as he recovers from a thigh injury.
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to return to the side with Conor Bradley absent due to personal reasons.
  • Darwin Nunez faces a late fitness test owing to a foot injury sustained in midweek.

Prediction

  • After three successive defeats across the New Year period, Arsenal have won back-to-back Premier League matches, against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
  • The Gunners were, however, beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at the Emirates less than a month ago, in the FA Cup.
  • Liverpool continue their strong season on all fronts, and have now scored four or more goals in three of their last four matches, and in the absence of Mohamed Salah, no less.
  • The Reds will head to north London at least five points clear at the top of the Premier League, having played one match more than Manchester City, with the chance to extend their lead to eight points.
  • This one could go either way, but Liverpool look like the favourites.

  • Only Gabriel Magalhaes can score an own goal and (almost) assist the (almost) winner.

  • Well, Arsenal were fantastic, Liverpool were shocking, and with this result, both have handed Man City another PL title on a platter. Goodbye competitive league!

  • @sarigginsUSA - Just a matter of time. It was inevitable. No surprises here.

  • @sarigginsUSA No, they haven't. Arsenal will win the league.

  • @Sputnik I’ll drink month old milk if that happens

  • @sarigginsUSA OK.

  • Goals and btts were never in doubt.

  • @nexus747 no BTTS

  • Liverpools midfield is a huge culprit in answering why Liverpool are against the ropes. Arsenals first goal is a good example of hjow disjointed it looks with van Dijk forced to cover the midfield and creating a gap behind him.

  • I love it when the commentator inadvertently confesses upon the quality of the Premiership by saying: Liverpools has leveled the score without a single shot on the goal. Indeed, when I tuned into the Arsenal - Liverpool game from watching the amazing Athletic Club - Mallorca game with superb goals and high paced one touch football game, I was shocked to see the standing around of the entire Liverpool team. The difference in the pace and in the vertical directness of the two games was simply shocking! I highly recommend watching the Athletic Club - Mallorca game for everyone to actually witness what really football looks like! LOL

  • @Zoltan Indeed. First of all, La Liga is much better technically and tactically than the Premier League. Second, Liverpool suck. It is known.

  • @Zoltan - Love this!!! Lol.

  • Liverpool poor first half and lucky to be level, however it must be said that 4 first choice players are out, so to be 1-1 at half-time is not a bad result. Additionally, Arsenal appeared to exert themselves physically far more in this half, so I would not be surprised if Liverpool do go on to score a couple in the second half and win 1-3.

  • @sarigginsUSA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • 1-0 final score

  • Liverpool exceptionally open in transition so far, leading to the opening goal.

  • I've gone for a Liverpool Win here on a ballsy Double with Atalanta. Odds of 6.2 on Betfair Exchange multiples.

  • Draw

  • I have a feeling corners will be more than 12

  • 0-1

  • 0-3 Liverpool

  • @A.A hahahahahaha

  • BTTS and Over 2.5 goals.

  • If Nunez is cleared to play ,then that's where the problem is going lie for Arsenal ,cause they will have to deploy two men to contain him ,leading to more space at their back, we all know what Diaz and Jota are capable of ,it's tricky to predict this one, but for the sake of not being neutral, I'm going for Liverpool wnning either half.

  • Arsenal double chance.

  • Basing this fixture on last FA Cup encounter. Then Liverpool will be heavily exposed but lack of finishing from Arsenal’s attack tipped the game towards Liverpool. If Arsenal can finish their chances then Liverpool will be toast. Arsenal do have a chance here to take all 3 points. I don’t believe Liverpool are Man City. Nor I believe they will win the league. Arsenal can raise their game here as Liverpool play one type of system that suits Arsenal’s play. Arsenal won’t lose this fixture. 2:1/2:2

  • @albgunn You can literally replace Arsenal with liverpool and vice versa and it would still make some sense. I also feel that it's a mistake to look at the previous meeting that was a seperate competition. It's more wise to look at the RECENT momentum of the teams, the form of the key players, the ones who will be missing the game and then I can't see how you can favor Arsenal so much unless you're looking at it with too much bias. It can go either wat based on both offenses and defenses.

  • My problem with Arsenal is that they want to walk with the ball to the net, especially attacking Odegaard and Jesus. They don't take any shots at goal since the beginning of this season. I don't know what happened because they were clinical last season but they just changed out of the blue this season. I don't know why someone predict that Liverpool will beat Arsenal at the Emirates because Arsenal now turns up on big games at home in the league. There is no way they are losing this one, especially if Salah won't be playing.

  • Arsenal 1 - Liverpool 3, Jota motm

  • @sarigginsUSA lmao

  • Must win match for both teams. Personally, I believe Liverpool will manage to get the result, but it will be close

  • Arsenal have Won 10 of their last 13 home games.

  • draw
