Team News

Barcelona
Cadiz
  • To Barca fans' horror, defender Ronald Araújo will be out for the foreseeable future having sustained a hamstring injury. Sergi Roberto, who the club have now registered, will likely take his place.
  • Raphinha, who was sent off last week, will miss the game through suspension. Abde Ezzaizouli should start; Xavi reportedly favours him over Ansu Fati, who could leave the club on loan.
  • Xavi will be missing from the touchline after he was sent off last week too.
  • Midfielder Gonzalo Escalante will miss the game through suspension, having recieved a red card last week for a reckless high foot.
  • Fede San Emeterio will take his place; he scored the winning goal last week against league newcomers Alaves.
  • Cadiz will opt for a rigid 4-4-2 formation in an aim to keep a second consecutive clean sheet.

Prediction

  • Barcelona visibly struggled last week against Getafe without club legends Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets and will probably take some time to gel their new-look, youthful squad together. They only managed to generate four big chances in their frustrating La Liga opener.
  • Cadiz, on the other hand, dispatched Alaves last week, winning 1-0, and will fancy their chances at grinding a draw out of el Blaugrana. After all, Getafe have already laid out the blueprints. However, Cadiz have won just as many games as Barcelona have from the two's last six meetings, further bolstering the chances of another stalemate draw.
  • Barcelona, also, will be playing their first game at the Estadi Lluis Olympic stadium, instead of the Spotify Camp Nou; a draw could be on the cards here.
