Team News

Celta Vigo
Real Madrid
  • Gabri Viega has now left Celta for Napoli, leaving a hole to be filled in the hosts' midfield. Hugo Sotelo started in his place last week, but was brought off at half time last week for Joseph Aidoo.
  • Gonçalo Paciência and Carles Pérez are unavailable for selection due to injury.
  • Celta should stick with 4-4-2 and dig in against a dangerous Madrid side who have scored five goals in two games.
  • Madrid should make one change from their victory against Almeria last week: Camavinga, who has a reported knock but came off the bench, should come in for veteran Toni Kroos.
  • Ancelotti seems content with Fran Garcia as his starting left-back - there should be no chance of a change there.
  • Jude Bellingham, having already scored three goals for Los Blancos in only two games, should sit in behind Vinícius and Rodrygo in his newly found number ten role.

Prediction

  • Celta managed to hold out for a draw against a formidable opposition last week, but are considered generally weak when facing Real Madrid, having only won three of the two's last 26 meetings.
  • Madrid look in pole position to take the points too, being one of three teams to maintain a 100% win record over two games with Rayo and Valencia.
  • The club's inability to bring in a striker this summer has not looked to be an issue yet as Jude Bellingham, Vinícius and Rodrygo have all stepped up to provide goals in a free-roaming attack. Rafa Benítez's side will have to be ultra disciplined in their two banks of four and employ a low block to stop Madrid's attack from having freedom in the final third; a nil nil is the best Celta can hope for in this one.
