Team News

Atletico
Almeria
  • Reinildo has been back in training with the squad and could be introduced this weekend as a substitute against Almeria.
  • Rodrigo Riquelme should keep his place on the left-flank. Simeone will have Samuel Lino waiting in the wings should he look to change things.
  • Memphis Depay appears to be back on grass and recovering well from his long-term injury.
  • Gonzalo Melero could well start again alongside Lucas Robertone in the double pivot. The two played well in the 0-0 draw with Betis last week.
  • Largie Ramazani was once again deployed in the centre forward role last time out as he slowly becomes a permanent fixture up front.

Prediction

  • Visitors Almeria, although able to earn a good draw against Betis last week, are seven points from safety and still winless in La Liga as we approach Christmas and the new year. They are the bookies' favourite to be relegated come May-time and could be easy pickings for Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid.
  • The hosts have been purring this season and have not looked out of their depth once on the pitch, but were frustrated by Barcelona on Sunday evening. Atletico now sit in fourth, seven points off the top of the table with Girona and Real. They could look to make a statement against the bottom of the league Almeria this weekend.
  • Almeria have failed to score in their last two matches thanks to a lack of cohesion and a few attacking injuries - an Atleti clean sheet could be good odds here, too.
