Team News

Valencia
Barcelona
  • Gabriel Paulista and Javi Guerra are both suspended after their respective red cards at Getafe last week, with Cenk Ozkacar and Mouctar Diakhaby expected to deputise in defence and midfield, respectively.
  • Andre Almeida will be assessed, but Jose Gaya is absent.
  • Frenkie de Jong and Inigo Martinez join Marcos Alonso, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Gavi on the sidelines.
  • Oriol Romeu may be needed in midfield again despite a performance to forget against Royal Antwerp on Wednesday night.

Prediction

  • Valencia have been in poor form of late with a 1-0 loss at Getafe extending their winless run in La Liga to four games. Los Che don't have a great home record against Barcelona either, losing their last three consecutive meetings with the Blaugrana at the Mestalla.
  • That being said, Barcelona haven't been particularly convincing themselves recently. Xavi watched on as his side lost 4-2 at home to Girona and then 3-2 to Royal Antwerp in midweek. They have failed to win in three on the road in all competitions, though do remain unbeaten on their travels in La Liga this season.
  • Valencia don't have a great home record this season and they struggle in front of goal at the Mestalla. Despite their struggles, Barcelona should have what it takes to eke out a win.

  • Xavi on the verge of getting sacked as Barcas board members refuse to back him.Leverkusens Xabi Alonso on the short list to take over.

  • @Marbella Also would be brainless to come in charge of that muppet team

  • @Marbella I believe you are not serious. No way Xabi to coach Barca. It could be any team but Barca.
