Team News

Deportivo Alaves
Real Madrid
  • Abdel Aqbar returns from suspension and should slot in to the heart of defence.
  • Samu Omorodion should start as he looks to score his first since scoring the opener against Barcelona only a few weeks ago.
  • Ferland Mendy is out injured. Fans could have seen him play his last match in a Real Madrid jersey as the club look to move him on in January.
  • Andriy Lunin looks set to keep his spot between the sticks over Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Prediction

  • Alaves have only ever beaten Real Madrid three times in their history, with their most recent coming in 2018. The upset victory from then will still be fresh in home fans' minds going into Thursday night's clash at the Mendizorrotza.
  • A win for Real would see them sit top of the league by a point (assuming that Girona lose), and Alaves could move up to as far as 12th with a surprise victory.
  • Alaves, slowing down in their purple patch as of late, have failed to score a single goal in their last two games, and Real have kept the most clean sheets in La Liga so far (8), so a win for Los Blancos is the sensible prediction here...
