Team News

Barcelona
Mallorca
  • Ronald Araujo is suspended for this one.
  • Pedri suffered a crippling muscle tear against Athletic Club on Sunday evening and will be out indefinitely, although the club are optimistic he will make El Clasico on the 21st of April.
  • Frenkie de Jong was also injured on Sunday and will be out for at least a month with an ankle injury.
  • Vedat Muriqi will lead the line. He told club media this week that if he can stay fit, he believes he can surpass Samuel Eto'o's goalscoring record for Mallorca.
  • Omar Mascarell misses out through suspension, while Siebe van der Heyden returns from his ban.
  • Cyle Larin is finding more confidence with every week, and he should start up front next to Muriqi.

Prediction

  • Barcelona welcome Mallorca to mainland Catalonia on Friday night to face their noisy island neighbours, who have dismantled both Real Sociedad and Girona in the past seven days. The reverse fixture in Palma ended 2-2, with Mallorca taking the lead twice through Abdon Prats and Vedat Muriqi. The inspiring form of Mallorca recently could be an influencing factor on the result here.
  • Barcelona would kick off the weekend in second place with a victory, leapfrogging Girona and going within five points of leaders Real Madrid, who, as well as Barca, dropped two points last week. Mallorca could go to 13th if they were to pull off an unlikely win.
  • The hosts haven't lost to Mallorca in their last 13 meetings, and although currently in a purple patch, Mallorca are unlikely to break that spell on Friday.
