Team News

Celtic
Motherwell
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named two changes to the Celts side that won was embarrassed 6-0 by Atletico Madrid in their Champions League meeting, before the Hoops hammered Aberdeen by the same scoreline before the break.
  • Joe Hart remained between the sticks, behind an unchanged back four. Benfica loanee Paulo Bernardo dropped onto the bench, as Odin Holm joined club captain Callum McGregor and Matt O'Riley in midfield.
  • Hyun-Jun Yang replaced the injured Daizen Maeda on the flank and opened the scoring against the Dons, with Luis Palma on the other side, supporting Kyogo Furuhashi up front. Hyun-Gyu Oh came off the bench to bag a brace in the recent rout.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named one changes after Motherwell bounced back from two down to draw 2-2 with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, before they lost 2-1 to Hearts at Fir Park prior to the international break.
  • Shane Blaney and Calum Butcher continued alongside Dan Casey in the Steelmen's back three. Stephen O'Donnell took the injured Paul McGinn's place at right wing-back as Blair Spittal moved back to left wing-back.
  • Callum Slattery and Harry Paton were the duo in the middle of Motherwell's midfield quartet. Theo Bair took Brodie Spencer's place in the team, starting alongside Conor Wilkinson in support of Mika Biereth in attack.

Prediction

  • Celtic entered the international break yet to lose a league match this season, meanwhile Motherwell are wondering where they'll pick up their next Scottish Premiership victory.
  • The Hoops hit Aberdeen for six prior to the international break, with the league leaders showing no mercy against a team in dire need of three points. They enter a similar scenario here, at home to an out-of-sorts side and are hopeful of extending the gap at the top to eleven points. Then all eyes are on Pittodrie as the Dons host Rangers on Sunday, having ideally already applied pressure.
  • Motherwell's rotten recent run continued at home to Hearts who they beat at Tynecastle in September. In the nine matches since, they've picked up just two points. Scoring goals doesn't appear an issue given they've netted nine in as many games but they've conceded 18 in the same timeframe. Their mission this weekend, against a rampant Celtic side at Parkhead, is far from ideal.
  • Motherwell would love for their recent woes to come to an end this weekend but, up against a slick Celtic who scored six in their last home match, that seems highly unlikely here.
