Team News

St. Mirren
Hibernian
  • Stephen Robinson named two changes to the St Mirren side that smashed St Johnstone 4-0 in their biggest league victory since January 2021, before they were edged out at Parkhead in a 2-1 defeat to Celtic last midweek.
  • Ryan Strain made his first appearance after his sending off against Rangers, having served his suspension, as he took Ryan Flynn's place at right wing-back. Caolan Boyd-Munce replaced Keanu Baccus in the middle of the park.
  • The only other alteration saw Greg Kiltie and Conor McMenamin - who netted his first league goal at Celtic Park last Wednesday to fire the Buddies ahead - supporting top scorer Toyosi Olusanya instead of top scorer Mikael Mandron.
  • Nick Montgomery made four changes from the Hibernian team that was held at home by Ross County in a 2-2 draw, before they lost their League Cup semi-final 1-0 to ten-man Aberdeen at Hampden on Saturday evening.
  • David Marshall replaced Jojo Wollacott between the sticks at the national stadium. Lewis Stevenson made way for Jordan Obita to start at left-back. Joe Newell took Jimmy Jeggo's place, to accompany Dylan Levitt, in the middle of the park.
  • Adam Le Fondre made way for Martin Boyle to partner Dylan Vente up front. The likes of Josh Campbell, Christian Doidge and young duo Rory Whittaker and Josh Landers came off the bench at the weekend but to no avail.

Prediction

  • There's just one win in St Mirren and Hibernian's last three Scottish Premiership matches each, in a total of six games, before the two teams meet in Paisley on Wednesday night.
  • St Mirren have lost two of their last three league games, albeit to the top two teams in the division, either side of an emphatic 4-0 victory against St Johnstone in their last home league match. The Buddies are ahead of a whole host of teams that have played more games than them so far this season, aiming to create a gap in third place as they look to better last season's exploits.
  • Hibernian are looking to put the latest edition of Hampden heartache behind them. The Hibees spurned the opportunity to reach the League Cup final - after knocking St Mirren out in the quarter-final at Easter Road - as attention turns towards looking to get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership. But Hibs haven't won in the league since beating St Johnstone in September.
  • Despite Hibs knocking St Mirren out of the League Cup in September, Saints won at Easter Road in August and will fancy their chances of claiming a league double over the Hibees here.
