Team News

Motherwell
Dundee FC
  • Stuart Kettlewell named two changes after Motherwell lost 2-1 to Hearts at Fir Park prior to the international break, before they picked up an impressive point at Parkhead where they drew 1-1 with Celtic last Saturday.
  • Brodie Spencer came in to start on the left of a five-man defence, as Stephen O'Donnell continued on the right hand side. The incoming Bevis Mugabi joined Dan Casey and Shane Blaney at the heart of the Steelmen's backline.
  • Calum Butcher moved further forward, joining Harry Paton and Callum Slattery in the Motherwell midfield. Blair Spittal supported lone striker Mika Biereth as substitute Jon Obika netted the winner. Conor Wilkinson and Theo Bair dropped out.
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named an unchanged Dee team after they battered St Mirren 4-0 at Dens Park prior to the international break, before the Dark Blues fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Hibs last Saturday.
  • Jordan McGhee stayed at right wing-back, with Owen Beck continuing to impress at left wing-back as the Dee persisted with a back three. Malachi Boateng kept his place as he joined Lyall Cameron and Luke McCowan in the midfield trio.
  • Zak Rudden, who scored Dundee's second against Saints before half-time, partnered Amadou Bakayoko - who bagged a brace - in attack. Zach Robinson came off the bench to add his name onto the scoresheet but had to settle for a spot amongst the substitutes.

Prediction

  • Ninth hosts seventh in the Scottish Premiership, as Motherwell take on Dundee at Fir Park with the two teams' form in stark contrast to one another.
  • The Well are winless in ten league games, but their point at Parkhead was an impressive one as they stopped league leaders Celtic firmly in their tracks. It's imperative that the Steelmen take the positives from the draw and try to arrest their rotten recent run. Their last victory was a sole goal success at Tynecastle against Hearts at the beginning of September, almost three months ago.
  • Dundee's recent form has been strong with their defeat at home to Hibs coming out of the blue. The weekend loss is only their second at Dens Park in the league this season, as Rangers claimed the other. The visitors have won once on their travels in the Scottish Premiership so far in the current campaign, so may feel this is a decent opportunity to add to the win at Livingston in October.
  • Despite Dundee proving a tough nut to crack and enjoying their return to the top tier, Motherwell will hope that the positives from the point at Parkhead can see them return to winning ways this weekend.
