Team News

St. Johnstone
Hibernian
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named just one change to the Saints team that left it late to nick a 1-0 win over St Mirren in Perth before another late goal set Saints back, as they drew 1-1 with Motherwell at Fir Park last weekend.
  • Ryan McGowan, Liam Gordon and Luke Robinson continued as the Saints back three. Tony Gallacher remained in Saints' four-man-midfield alongside James Brown, Dan Phillips and Matt Smith as they opted to change shape slightly.
  • Max Kucheriavyi picked up an injury against St Mirren, so made way for Chris Kane - who netted the winner against the Buddies - to lead the line. Diallang Jaiyesimi and Graham Carey supported the lone striker on either flank.
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named four changes to the Hibernian team that conceded four goals to Celtic as they were mauled 4-1 in their midweek match, before bouncing back with a sole-goal success away to Livingston on Saturday.
  • Three of the four alterations came in defence as Rory Whittaker replaced Lewis Miller at right-back, club captain Paul Hanlon returned at centre-back at Rocky Bushiri's expense and Lewis Stevenson made way for Jordan Obita at left-back.
  • The only other change came in attack, as Èlie Youan dropped back into midfield and Josh Campbell made way for Dylan Vente to join the weekend matchwinner Martin Boyle up front.

Prediction

  • St Johnstone host Hibernian, looking for revenge given the Hibees beat them comfortably in Edinburgh in their previous Scottish Premiership meeting.
  • Saints will be gutted to have picked up four points and not six from their last two Scottish Premiership matches, following back-to-back defeats to Hearts and Celtic. They left it late against St Mirren but were punished late on themselves away to Motherwell. Before the weekend's matches, they sit in the relegation playoff place so will hope for defeats elsewhere, and a victory, to see them ascend up the league table.
  • Hibernian, however, head to Perth in fine fettle having won four of their last five Scottish Premiership games. The only exception was a defeat to league leaders Celtic but they bounced back away to Livingston last weekend and hope to claim another victory against the side just above Livingston in the current standings. The Hibees have climbed to fourth place in the league, a point behind St Mirren, and intend to stay there.
  • Hibernian had enough quality to sweep St Johnstone aside in the capital and whilst it may prove trickier in Perth, their recent form is strong so they'll want to claim another three points this weekend.
