Team News

Hearts
Aberdeen
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made four changes after the Jambos squeezed past Spartans in the Scottish Cup by a 2-1 scoreline, before a crazy five-goal thriller against Dundee saw the hosts win 3-2 at Tynecastle on Tuesday night.
  • Zander Clark was reinstated in goal behind an unchanged back three. Aidan Denholm and Calem Nieuwenhof - who kickstarted the comeback - replaced Jorge Grant and Alan Forrest to accompany Beni Baningime in midfield.
  • Dexter Lembikisa, who made his first Hearts start and scored the equaliser, started at right wing-back. Kyosuke Tagawa and Yutaro Oda, who netted the winner, dropped onto the bench as Lawrence Shankland returned in midweek.
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named an unchanged Dons team after they advanced in the Scottish Cup thanks to a 2-0 win away to Clyde last Friday night, before they drew 1-1 with St Johnstone on Wednesday back on league duty.
  • Kelle Roos continued in goal behind Nicky Devlin, Slobodan Rubezic, Stefan Gartenmann and Jack MacKenzie. Club captain Graeme Shinnie and Connor Barron sat in front of the unchanged back four in Perth.
  • Leighton Clarkson was slightly further forward, with Jamie McGrath and Dante Polvara either side of him, supporting lone striker Bojan Miovski who netted the opener against Clyde and also St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in midweek.

Prediction

  • Hearts finished third the season before last, and they host an Aberdeen team that stole the 'best of the rest' tag from them in the Scottish Premiership last season.
  • The Jambos have picked up the most points of any Scottish Premiership team (16) within the last six matchdays in Scotland's top tier, after coming back from two goals down to win a match at Tynecastle for the first time since September 2002. Hearts could pull 19 points clear of their weekend opponents with a win in this one, despite the visitors having three games in hand on them.
  • As for Aberdeen, they'll be disappointed that they ultimately threw two points away in their midweek match at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone. The Dons are looking to climb the league table, keeping an eye on St Mirren hosting Rangers and European rivals Kilmarnock and Hibernian going head-to-head. But it ultimately means nothing if they can't pick up points of their own.
  • The home team tends to pick up three points when these two teams meet, both Hearts at Tynecastle and Aberdeen at Pittodrie, so the Jambos will hope that history repeats itself once more.
