Team News

Dundee FC
Rangers
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named an unchanged Dee team despite a 3-2 defeat to Motherwell at Dens Park, before they secured a point at Pittodrie against Aberdeen in a goalless draw which has resulted in a top-six Premiership spot.
  • Jon McCracken remained in goal, behind an unchanged Dee defence consisting of Antonio Portales, Joe Shaughnessy and Aaron Donnelly. Dara Costelloe moved over to left wing-back as Jordan McGhee replaced Owen Dodgson on the right.
  • Mo Sylla, Lyall Cameron and Luke McCowan carried on in midfield. Scott Tiffoney was partnered by Amadou Bakayoko in attack, despite Curtis Main being back on the bench against his former team.
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named four changes from the crazy 3-3 derby day draw against Celtic at Ibrox, as they lost to Ross County for the first time ever in a 3-2 defeat in Dingwall last Sunday.
  • Borna Barisic took Dujon Sterling's place in the Gers defence to join James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and John Souttar. John Lundstram was joined by Kieran Dowell, as opposed to the injured Mohamed Diomande, in the middle of the park.
  • Todd Cantwell replaced Tom Lawrence to be the Gers' main creative influence. Despite his antics against Celtic, Fabio Silva was given the nod again on the left hand side. Abdallah Sima replaced Scott Wright on the right, supporting Cyriel Dessers as the lone striker.

Prediction

  • After the Dens Park debacle prior to the international break, Dundee finally host Rangers - hopefully in Dundee as opposed to Perth - in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night in this rearranged fixture.
  • Dundee missed out on winning consecutive Scottish Premiership matches away from home for the first time since December 2017 to January 2018, but won't give a toss as they clinched a first top-six finish since 2014/15. Only Rangers, Hearts, Livingston, Ross County and now Dundee have finished in the top six as newly promoted teams, as the Dee's attention turns towards Europe.
  • Ross County's first ever victory over Rangers could prove detrimental in the Gers' Scottish Premiership title aspirations, as they sit four points behind Celtic in the league table - albeit with this game in hand. However, they've still to go to Parkhead to take on the Hoops in another Old Firm - which they now must win if they are to leapfrog their city rivals and steal back the league title.
  • Despite all the hoo-ha surrounding this game, it will finally be played whether that's at Dens Park or McDiarmid Park and Rangers must find a way to squeeze past Dundee to keep their title hopes alive.
