Team News

Aberdeen
Dundee FC
  • Interim Aberdeen boss Peter Leven named an unchanged Dons team after they clinched back-to-back league victories with a 2-1 success over Ross County at Pittodrie, before they were held by Livingston in a goalless draw last weekend.
  • Kelle Roos continued in goal behind Jack MacKenzie, Richard Jensen, Stefan Gartenmann and Nicky Devlin in the back four. Graeme Shinnie and Connor Barron continued in front of the Dons' defence.
  • Junior Hoilett and Jamie McGrath were joined by Leighton Clarkson, supporting lone striker Bojan Miovski who ended a month's wait for a goal against Ross County but failed to find the net against Livi.
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named just one change to the Dee team that clinched back-to-back league victories with a 2-1 Tayside derby success at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone, before a 3-2 defeat to Motherwell on Saturday at Dens Park.
  • Jon McCracken remained in goal, behind an unchanged Dee defence consisting of Antonio Portales, Joe Shaughnessy and Aaron Donnelly. Dara Costelloe moved over to left wing-back as Jordan McGhee replaced Owen Dodgson on the right.
  • Mo Sylla, Lyall Cameron and Luke McCowan - who put the Dee two to the good at the weekend - carried on in midfield. Scott Tiffoney was partnered by Amadou Bakayoko in attack at the injured Curtis Main's expense.

Prediction

  • Aberdeen's hopes of a top six finish in the Scottish Premiership have slipped away, meanwhile Dundee's are very much alive as the two teams meet at Pittodrie this weekend.
  • The Dons were held to a goalless draw in Livingston, under controversial circumstances, which means that they are consigned to the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table. Had they nicked all three points against Livi on Saturday, their top-six hopes would remain intact but that stalemate perhaps sums up what's been an incredibly underwhelming and disappointing campaign.
  • Dundee head north hopeful that they can secure a top-six finish as a newly promoted side in the Scottish Premiership. All eyes will be on proceedings at Fir Park, as eighth-place Motherwell host Hibernian in seventh. If the Well win, all Dundee would need is a point here. If Hibs win, Dundee would need to pick up a victory here or against Rangers in the rearranged fixture next midweek.
  • Despite the Dens Park debacle and various permutations that now exist regarding the top six, Aberdeen are yet to beat Dundee in the Scottish Premiership this season so the Dee will be hopeful they can hold their hosts here once again.
