Team News

Sporting
Porto
  • With Catamo injured, Esgaio will likely start at right wing-back.
  • Nuno Santos and Matheus Reis will be in competition to start on the opposite flank.
  • Paulinho may start out wide instead of Edwards if Rúben Amorim decides to change things up front.
  • João Mário is fully fit and will be in competition with Jorge Sanchez to start at right-back.
  • Zé Pedro scored his first FC Porto goal last time out. He will likely be paired with Pepe at the heart of the defence if the former Real Madrid player recovers in time.
  • Francisco Conceição might get the nod over Pepê if his father and coach, Sérgio Conceição, decides to change things out wide.

Prediction

  • Sporting enjoyed a convincing 3-0 win over Sturm Graz that might have help them recover their confidence after a 3-2 loss to Vitória SC that cost them first place in the league. Rúben Amorim's men will try to get back to winning ways in the league against one of their direct rivals.
  • FC Porto claimed an impressive 5-3 victory over Shakhtar that saw them progress to the Champions League knockout stage. Sérgio Conceição's men have been prolific up front of late having scored at least three goals in three of their last four competitive matches.
  • Both sides will be competing for first place as they head into this fixture level on points at the top of the table. The visitors have a slight advantage in morale and in recent meetings between the sides. Indeed, they've only lost one of their last 16 matches against Sporting CP. With that in mind, an away win wouldn't be a surprise.
