Team News

Vitoria de Guimaraes
Braga
  • Handel saw the 5th yellow card of the season last time out and might be replaced by Nuno Santos here.
  • Afonso Freitas and Bruno Gaspar will be in competition to start at the defensive wings here.
  • Either Kaio César or Nélson Oliveira will lead the line on Saturday' derby.
  • Paulo Oliveira is set to miss out due to an accumulation of bookings, meaning that Niakaté will have a new partner at the heart of the defense. José Fonte and Serdar will be in competition to fill that gap.
  • Djaló will also miss out here as he was sent off last time around.
  • Abel Ruiz came from the bench to score a brace and will push for a start upfront, especially if Rui Duarte opts for a 4-4-2 formation.

Prediction

  • Vitória de Guimarães' defeat against Rio Ave last weekend jeopardised the “Vitorianos” chances of reaching 3rd place, putting them six points behind FC Porto. In order to ease this frustration, they will try to beat their eternal rivals on Saturday, while reducing their distance to the top 4.
  • After losing to SL Benfica, SC Braga had a great response beating Casa Pia AC by 4-3 despite being with a lesser man in the last 15 minutes. They're still fighting to finish at the top 3, and know that nothing but a win will matter if they want to do so.
  • This should be a very entertaining game between two eternal rivals with a very attacking style of play. Plenty of chances are expected, with Vitória SC capitalising on the home advantage.
