Team News

Istanbul Basaksehir
Samsunspor
  • Omer Sahiner is likely to start in midfield as Dimitris Pelkas is injured and Joao Figueiredo is suspended.
  • Leo Duarte and Mahmut Tekdemir are injured and Ousseynou Ba is apparently carrying a knock. Hamza Gureler, who deputised at the back last time out is also sidelined with calf injury. So, Souza might have to feature as a center back here.
  • Onur Ergun, who wasn't expected to start here, is also injured.
  • Benito Raman is likely to deputise for the injured Emre Kilinc.
  • Alim Ozturk has served his suspension and will return to the starting XI.

Prediction

  • Basaksehir were 2-0 winners against Gaziantepspor last time out. Atan used Sumudica's style to hit Gaziantepspor, defended very strongly and limited his opponent's chances to set pieces, and benefited from clinical finishing. However, that strategy failed to work against Trabzonspor in the midweek Turkish Cup tie and Basaksehir were eliminated. Because of the number of key players missing, Atan might again adopt a very conservative approach here.
  • Samsunspor brushed Rizespor aside 3-0 last time out. Every pundit is now singing Giskol's praises and the German deserves full credit for turning things around at Samsunspor. They play a dominant football, create chances, and in general are quite pleasing to watch. Expect them to attack the game from the get go and force Basaksehir's make-shift defence to make errors here.
  • Basaksehir's last three wins were against sides that are in the relegation zone. Samsunspor will prove to be a much more formidable opponent.
