Prediction

  • Besiktas recorded a magnificent 4-0 away win at Rize last time out. Perhaps it was a reaction to the scathing criticism by the media or the figure of their new manager Fernando Santos sitting in the stands, under the rain, with a stern expression on his face, or a combination of both that pushed the players to perform with more desire, intent and determination than they have in weeks.
  • The youngster Kilicsoy was brilliant again, the attacking lineup looked dynamic and Fernandes and Hadziahmetovic bossed the midfield from the beginning to the end. With Santos on the sidelines for his first game in charge at home and Ucan back from suspension, the Black Eagles are absolute favorites here.
  • Karagumruk caused a major upset beating Kayserispor 4-1 last time out. This was by far their best performance since Arveladze arrived and they fully deserved their win but the picture is not as rosy as it is for their hosts. First, Kayserispor committed an inexplicable amount of amateurish mistakes at the back and second, they still conceded too many chances and were their usual frail self at the back.
  • Arveladze will be wary of the atmosphere here and will have his side defend very deep to frustrate Besiktas and keep them at bay for as long as possible.
