Team News

Rizespor
Besiktas
  • Hsuniddin Aliqulov has joined the Uzbekistan national team for the Asian Cup. Emirhan Topcu is expected to start in his place.
  • Sinan Osmanoglu and Janne-Pekka Laine, neither of whom were expected to start here, are injured.
  • Omar Colley and Daniel Amartey have been included in the Gambia and Ghana squads for the AFCON 2023. Necip Uysal and Tayyip Sanuc are expected to start at centre-back.
  • Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov will start in midfield as Salih Ucan is suspended.
  • Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has suffered a torn thigh muscle and is not expected to feature for the remainder of the season.
  • As Arthur Masuaku is at AFCON 2023 with DR Congo and Umut Meras injured, Tayfur Bingol is likely to start at left-back.
  • The board is rumoured to have asked Valentin Rosier and Jean Onana to find themselves new clubs.
  • Vincent Aboubakar, who had been banished to the reserves, is with the Cameroon national team for the AFCON 2023.

Prediction

  • Rizespor were 2-0 winners against Hatayspor last time out. Strong finishing and well-executed wing attacks brought Rizespor the three points. They will be playing a typical counter-attacking game here and will create quite a few chances against a Besiktas side that is in free fall.
  • Besiktas suffered a shocking 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Kasimpasa last time out. More than the embarrassing scoreline, it was the abysmal performance that angered the Black Eagles fans. Barring a few young players such as Kilicsoy and Zaynutdinov, the team seems to have given up on the title race already. The board stated that they'd have a new manager hired before the Rize game but following the rejection by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, that is doubtful.
  • Even if Besiktas find a new manager in time it is hard to see how this team, in its current state, can get anything out of this.
