Team News

Rangers
Ross County
  • Rangers boss Philippe Clement made five changes from the Gers being eliminated in the Champions League following defeat to Dynamo Kyiv, before advancing into the League Cup quarter-finals with a win against St Johnstone at Hampden.
  • James Tavernier, John Souttar, Robin Pröpper and Jefte made up the Rangers back four. Dujon Sterling replaced Connor Barron to accompany Mohamed Diomande in midfield, as Kieran Dowell took Tom Lawrence's place in the middle of the park.
  • Ridvan Yilmaz and Ross McCausland made way for Vaclav Cerny and Rabbi Matondo to start into the wide areas. Danilo took Cyriel Dessers' spot to lead the line and make his first competitive start of the season in attack.
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie made five changes after the Staggies left it late to equalise against Dundee United in a 1-1 draw in Dingwall in their last league game, before a 1-0 defeat to Spartans in the Scottish League Cup at the weekend.
  • Ryan Leak replaced Akil Wright to partner Will Nightingale at the heart of the defence. Michee Efete made way for James Brown at right-back. Victor Loturi took Scott Allardice's place to partner Connor Randall in the middle of the park.
  • Noah Chilvers replaced Jack Grieves on the left-hand side of midfield. Eamonn Brophy was dropped for Jordan White to partner Ronan Hale in attack, as the League 2 outfit produced the shock of the round in Edinburgh last Saturday.

Prediction

  • Rangers cruised into the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup, while Ross County are looking to get over the biggest cup shock of the round as the two teams meet at Hampden.
  • The Gers crashed out of the Champions League so they'll have to settle for a spot in the Europa League but kept their hopes of a domestic trophy alive, following a controversial but comfortable victory against St Johnstone. Having got off the mark against Motherwell, after the disappointing draw away to Hearts, Rangers can't afford many more slip-ups as they chase Celtic at the top of the league table.
  • Ross County are yet to record their first Scottish Premiership victory of the season, after their draw away to Motherwell before their last-gasp equaliser against Dundee United salvaged a point. A trip to the national stadium to take on Rangers isn't the most favourable fixture after such a catastrophic defeat to Spartans in the Scottish League Cup, but the Staggies won't want to wait on a win for much longer.
  • Despite Ross County claiming their first-ever victory over Rangers last season in the Highlands, the Gers should have too much for the Staggies at Hampden this weekend.
