Team News

Vitoria
Gremio
  • Ney Franco is likely to make at least one change to the side that beat Vasco.
  • Central midfielder Michel is a major doubt with a knee problem.
  • Luís Cáceres is likely to come into the side.
  • Renato Gaúcho must decide whether or not to restore Elano to his starting XI.
  • The former Brazil midfielder scored against Santos but is still not full fit.
  • Ramiro is available again after suspension.

Prediction

  • Back up to sixth after consecutive 2-1 wins, Vitória are settling into life under Ney Franco.
  • The former São Paulo coach has certainly brought the best out of Marquinhos, who has scored twice in four games.
  • Grêmio reduced the gap between them and second-placed Botafogo to four points in midweek and will be keen to kick on.

  • Gremio should win this game, even though it is being played in Salvador. Gremio is a solid team that is overdue another win and Vitoria has been getting by lately with some fair luck in my opinion. Vitoria will be without Michel, Cáceres, Mansur, Biancucchi, André Lima, Neto Coruja, Nino, and Fabrício for this match. They don't lose often at home but I have a feeling this will be their second loss. 2-1 for Gremio in my opinion...
