Barcelona’s summer has gone from bad to worse after revealing Luis Suarez will undergo tests to discover the extent of a knee injury picked up against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Suarez was seen limping during the second half of their 2-0 defeat away to Madrid as Ernesto Valverde’s side were beaten 5-1 over the two legs of the Spanish Super Cup.
The Uruguay international will now almost certainly miss Barcelona’s opening league game against Real Betis on Sunday, leaving Valverde short of options in attack.
It’s been a disastrous summer for Barcelona after losing Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in a £193m world-record deal and the absence of Suarez will only put more pressure on the shoulders of Lionel Messi.
In the last two La Liga campaigns, Suarez has scored at least six more goals than any other player (69).
I'm not sure, but maybe Messi can play in the middle?
