Huddersfield sign Championship full-back

Huddersfield have made their ninth signing of the summer after announcing the arrival of Fulham left-back Scott Malone.

The Terriers have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer market this summer as they look to consolidate their place in the Premier League next season.

Malone has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the newly-promoted Premier League side after arriving on an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old, who was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, was one of the best defenders in England’s second-tier last season and looks an astute piece of business by David Wagner’s side.

“I’m excited to welcome Scott to Huddersfield Town. Our fans will have seen in our games against Fulham last season what a good player he is and I know his abilities will suit our style of play very well,” Wagner told the club’s official website.

“Scott is a good physical presence and is a very capable defender, plus he adds a lot going forward. He shows good football intelligence to time his forward runs and can setup goals for teams and scoring them himself.

“We already have a very good left back in Chris Lowe and a real young talent in Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, but as we enter our first Premier League season it is so important to have competition and the ability to rotate out side, as we did so successfully last season.”
