Burnley manager Sean Dyche has earmarked Newcastle Matt Ritchie as a potential January signing, reports The Daily Mail.
Dyche has prioritised the need to sign another winger this month after losing Robbie Brady for the remainder of the season at the start of December.
The Clarets have also earmarked Everton winger Aaron Lennon and West Brom wideman James McClean as potential signings but will first try their luck for Ritchie.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is already putting pressure on the board to strengthen his squad and news that he could lose one of his best players will not go down well with the Spaniard.
The Scotland international has been Newcastle’s most creative player this season and it would be a hammer blow to their chances of beating the drop.
In fact, Ritchie has registered at least three more assists than any other Newcastle player in the Premier League this season (5).
