Aston Villa set to make January move for Juventus midfielder

Aston Villa are prepared to make a January move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, reports the Sun on Sunday.

Juventus were prepared to listen to offers for the USA international late in the summer window following the arrival of Manuel Locatelli, but despite interest from Tottenham and Burnley, a move failed to materialise.

McKennie was hauled off at the break in Juventus' 1-0 loss to Empoli prior to the international break and it remains to be seen how frequently he will feature for the Old Lady under Max Allegri this season.

Juventus are willing to sell McKennie in the New Year, with Aston Villa a rumoured destination for the youngster.

Villa were in the market for a central midfielder over the summer, though they were unable to convince Southampton to sell top target James Ward-Prowse.

Dean Smith is well stocked in the middle of the park, but the Villans boss is looking to add quality to his midfield and has earmarked McKennie as a potential target in January.
