Liverpool emerge as frontrunners for Arsenal ace

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey when his contract expires at the end of the season, claims The Daily Mirror.

Ramsey looks set to leave Arsenal in the summer after failing to agree terms on a new long-term deal at the club.

The Gunners will have to consider selling the Wales international in January to avoid losing the 27-year-old for nothing.

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Ramsey’s future but now Liverpool have emerged as surprise suitors for the Arsenal ace.

Jurgen Klopp signed Fabinho and Naby Keita in the summer but are mindful that James Milner’s contract also expires at the end of the season.

Liverpool even made a shock enquiry for Ramsey before the start of the season but Arsenal turned down their rivals and hoped at that stage they could secure his long-term future.

Klopp prised Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain away from the Gunners in 2017 and the German now has his sights set on his former Arsenal team-mate.

Since the start of last season, only Alexandre Lacazette (22) has scored or assisted more Premier League goals for Arsenal than Ramsey (17).
