Revealed: Bayern Munich duo among 10 big names available for cut price deals

It has emerged in the last few hours Chelsea are in advanced talks with Ajax to sign star man Hakim Ziyech at the end of the season in a deal worth £38m. Ziyech has played a direct hand in 148 goals in 179 league games since August 2014 and appears fantastic value for the reported fee involved in discussions between the two clubs. Ziyech isn't the only player we can expect to see trade clubs for modest fees this summer.

There are some big names approaching the final year of their current deals around Europe and their respective clubs will be forced to cash in at the end of the season or risk losing them for nothing in 12 months' time. Here are 10 players nearing the end of their contracts that elite clubs across Europe should be considering, with additional information about their Football Index share prices.

David Alaba (Bayern Munich) - 7.00 rating

David Alaba's reputation has diminished somewhat since Pep Guardiola left Bayern Munich in 2016 and a move away in the summer is exactly what he needs to spark his career back into life. Lucas Hernandez's big money arrival, coupled with Alphonso Davies' emergence at left-back means Alaba is no longer indispensable for the Bundesliga giants. Alaba would be a worthy pick up for most European powerhouses, capable of playing in a variety of positions in addition to left-back. Alaba has only made 16 league appearances this season but averages the most passes per game in the Bundesliga (89.9).

Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig) - 7.23 rating

Arsenal will no doubt be cursing not getting a deal sorted for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano when he was out of favour in the summer, as his stock has soared since then. The 21-year-old has emerged as a key player for the Bundesliga outfit this season, as they sit one point behind leaders Bayern Munich, and currently occupies a place in our WhoScored Team of the Season across Europe's top 5 leagues. RB Leipzig may have no choice but to cash in on the talented Frenchman if they cannot agree terms on a new deal before the start of next season.

Sandro Tonali (Brescia) - 6.96 rating

Once dubbed the 'next Andrea Pirlo' Sandro Tonali has enjoyed a stellar maiden Serie A campaign for newly promoted Brescia and could be about to make the first high profile move of what promises to be a very exciting career. The 19-year-old is already a regular for the Italy national squad despite the fact Roberto Mancini has a huge pool of talented midfielders to pick from. Tonali has scored once and provided five assists in 22 league appearances this season, while posting an impressive dribble success rate of 81.6%. Pirlo already thinks he's the best midfielder in Serie A...

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) - 6.86 rating

There is already a general feeling this will be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's last at Arsenal. The 30-year-old, subject of interest from Barcelona in January, wants to play Champions League football and that is unlikely to happen at Arsenal next season. Even as he edges the wrong side of 30, the Gabon striker would be a fantastic pick up for any side in Europe with his proven goalscoring record. Since joining Arsenal in January 2018, only Mohamed Salah (49 goals in 72 games) has scored more goals than Aubemeyang (46 goals in 72 games) in the Premier League.

Thiago (Bayern Munich) - 7.49 rating

It seems remarkable to think Bayern Munich would even consider selling someone of Thiago's class but that is exactly what is happening according to reports in Germany. Bayern have a list of big name targets this summer and they need to find a way to bankroll their spending and know Thiago's departure would help raise money. The 28-year-old has been exceptional of late but has still only started 15 times for Bayern in the league this season. In some ways he is the ultimate midfielder against teams that press intensely, illustrated by the fact he is dispossessed just 0.8 times per game and completes 87.3% of his attempted dribbles - the second best return in Europe's top 5 leagues (more than 25 dribbles attempted).

Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan) - 6.82 rating

AC Milan have already gone through one transfer saga involving Gianluigi Donnarumma during his short career and could be about to deal with another. Donnarumma is regarded as the best young goalkeeper on the planet, and with just over 12 months left to go on his current deal, several clubs may be about to test Milan's resolve. At the age of 20, Donnarumma already has 164 Serie A appearances to his name and is Italy's first choice goalkeeper. Since making his league debut at the age of 16, only one shot-stopper has kept more clean sheets than Donnarumma (53). With Mino Raiola close to the situation, there will no doubt be some intense media reports in the coming months.

Ferran Torres (Valencia) - 6.81 rating

Ferran Torres's camp are clearly aware of the midfielder's potential, as they only agreed to a two-year deal with Valencia in April 2018. There was interest from Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid back then so only imagine the race for his signature when he finally leaves Los Che. That could be sooner rather than later, given his deal, which has a €100m release clause, expires in 2021. The 19-year-old has played a direct hand in eight goals in 22 league appearances for Valencia this season, while only Jadon Sancho (3) averaged more dribbles per game than Torres (2.8) of all teenagers in the group stage of the Champions League.

Leroy Sane (Manchester City)

Leroy Sane hasn't featured all season due to a long-term knee injury sustained in the Community Shield but is closing in on a return to full fitness at the ideal time to start drubbing up summer interest. The Germany international has so far refused to sign a new deal with Manchester City and no new talks are planned until April. Bayern Munich have made their intentions clear they want to sign Sane and he will be available in the summer if he does not sign a new deal before then. Sane reached double figures for both goals and assists in each of the 2017/18 (10 goals, 15 assists) and 2018/19 campaign (10 goals, 10 assists) and it would be a surprise if clubs other than Bayern were not monitoring his future.

Memphis Depay (Lyon) - 7.59 rating

After a bruising spell at Manchester United, Memphis Depay has discovered career-best form for Lyon and the Netherlands over the last 18 months. Memphis was made Lyon captain in November, as a huge show of faith by the French club, and they have recently confirmed the 25-year-old will be offered a new long-term deal. The fact Memphis is battling back from a serious knee injury suffered in December could work in Lyon's favour but no new deal before Euro 2020 could spell bad news for the Ligue 1 side. Memphis has played a direct hand in 31 goals in 49 league games since the beginning of last season (19 goals, 12 assists).

Arkadiusz Milik (Napoli) - 7.17 rating

This summer will be a testing one for Napoli. With Dries Mertens set to leave on a free, it's imperative they do everything they can to prevent Arkadiusz Milik from following him out of the door. Milik is approaching the final 12 months of his current Napoli deal and there was reported interest from Manchester United in January. In need of a new striker, United could return for the 25-year-old in the summer, especially with a cut-price deal on the table. Over his injury woes, Milik has scored nine goals in 14 league appearances this season and won the WhoScored Man of the Match award four times.
