England passmaster Greenwood makes Women's World Cup team of the round

 

The second round of Women's World Cup games drew to a close on Sunday afternoon with Sweden and Spain the big winners from the set of group games, beating Italy and Zambia, respectively, 5-0. Morocco, England, Vietnam and Portugal are also represented in the team of the round. 

 

Tran Thi Kim Thanh (Vietnam) - 8.03 

 

Vietnam may have fallen to another Women's World Cup defeat as they fell to a 2-0 loss to Portugal, but Tran Thi Kim Thanh put in another sound display between the sticks. The 29-year-old made seven saves to keep the score respectable at the Waikato Stadium, while an additional last ditch tackle saw her return a WhoScored rating of 8.03. 

 

Hanane Ait El Haj (Morocco) - 8.15 

 

The player of the match from Morocco's historic win over South Korea, Hanane Ait El Haj returned a WhoScored rating of 8.15 in Sunday's 1-0 victory. She provided the assist for Ibtissam Jraidi's early winner, that coming from her only key pass of the game, and was difficult to get the better of having made five tackles and four interceptions. 

 

Amanda Ilestedt (Sweden) - 9.46 

 

One of two to win multiple player of the match awards at the Women's World Cup so far, Amanda Ilestedt was superb in Sweden's thumping 5-0 win over Italy. The centre-back scored twice from three efforts while her defensive work helped Peter Gerhardsson's side to a clean sheet as Ilestedt won five aerial duels and made three clearances, one tackle and one interception to return a WhoScored rating of 9.46. 

 

Alex Greenwood (England) - 8.02 

 

Partnering Ilestedt at the heart of the defence, pass machine Alex Greenwood makes the cut having earned a WhoScored rating of 8.02 in England's 1-0 win over Denmark. Greenwood completed 94 passes in a dominant display from the Lionesses' while two tackles, including one last ditch tackle, capped a superb performance from the 29-year-old. 

 

Jonna Andersson (Sweden) - 8.52 

 

Jonna Andersson is the second of three Sweden representatives in the XI following a superb display from left-back against Italy. The 30-year-old registered two assists in Saturday's victory, those coming from four key passes, with Andersson deserving her place in the team with a WhoScored rating of 8.52. 

 

Lucia Alves (Portugal) - 8.23 

 

Having started the 1-0 loss to the Netherlands on the bench, Lucia Alves started Portugal's 2-0 win over Vietnam, and justified her selection in the process. She registered the assist for Telma Encarnacao's opener from one of three key passes, and made two tackles to return a WhoScored rating of 8.23.

Teresa Abelleira (Spain) - 9.04 

 

The first Spain player in the side following their resounding win over Zambia, Teresa Abelleira set La Roja on their way to a 5-0 win as she netted with one of two shots. The 23-year-old dictated the tempo in the middle of the park, completing 94 of 105 passes, while an additional five aerial duels won saw her yield a WhoScored rating of 9.04. 

 

Kika Nazareth (Portugal) - 8.61 

 

The scorer of Portugal's second against Vietnam partners Abelleira in the middle of the park. Kika Nazareth earned a WhoScored rating of 8.61 in the 2-0 win, hitting the back of the net with one of four shots. The 20-year-old also completed four dribbles and made three key passes to cap a fine performance. 

 

Fridolina Rolfo (Sweden) - 8.51 

 

The third and final Sweden representative in the XI, Fridolina Rolfo struck with one of five shots in their 5-0 win over Italy. The 29-year-old also completed four dribbles in the resounding victory to feature on the left flank with a WhoScored rating of 8.51. 

 

Jenni Hermoso (Spain) - 10.0 

 

With a perfect WhoScored 10 rating, Jenni Hermoso is the Women's World Cup player of the round having played a starring role against Zambia. The 33-year-old was directly involved in three of five goals, hitting the back of the net with two of five shots and providing one assist from two key passes. Hermoso also completed five dribbles in a stunning display. 

 

Telma Encarnacao (Portugal) - 8.74 

 

Rounding off the team is Portugal forward Telma Encarnacao. The 21-year-old fired her side ahead in just the seventh minute against Vietman and provided the assist for the second that put the result beyond doubt. Those came from respective returns of seven shots and three key passes as Encarnacao landed a WhoScored rating of 8.74.
