Liverpool star knocked off perch in U21 player form rankings

10. Nikola Milenkovic (Fiorentina) - 7.16 weighted rating

Kicking off the top 10 is youngster Nikola Milenkovic, who while Fiorentina are ending the season direly, the 21-year-old has been in good form. Previously linked with Manchester United, interested parties will be buoyed by his solid performances and with the Viola sleepwalking their way to the finish line, they should fancy their chances of luring the Serb away from Italy.

9. William Saliba (Saint-Etienne) - 7.25 weighted rating

A previous new entrant, William Saliba drops down to ninth as Saint-Etienne missed out on the opportunity to leapfrog rivals Lyon in Ligue 1 after a 1-0 loss to Montpellier on Friday night. Nevertheless, the teenage defender continues to have his admirers and with a weighted WhoScored rating of 7.25, it’s not undeserving.

8. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) - 7.25 weighted rating

Borussia Dortmund are fortunate that Bayern slipped up against RB Leipzig, which means they remain in with a chance of securing domestic glory in the final weekend of the season. For Jadon Sancho, though, it was another week that saw him drop down the U21 player form rankings, with the winger a second half sub in the 3-2 win over Fortuna Duesseldorf. The England international still boasts a fine weighted rating of 7.25, but he’s struggled to reach the heights seen in previous weeks.

7. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace) - 7.26 weighted rating

Remaining in seventh this week is Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Crystal Palace ended the season strongly with an entertaining 5-3 win over Bournemouth. Wan-Bissaka continues to impress, though fortunately for Palace fans, the right-back has confirmed he will remain at Selhurst Park next season. His consistency of late has landed him a weighted WhoScored rating of 7.26.

6. Ismael Bennacer (Empoli) - 7.28 weighted rating

Pipping Wan-Bissaka into sixth is Empoli’s battling midfielder Ismael Bennacer. The Algerian has won possession in the midfield third more times (168) than any other player in Serie A this season as he continues to impress in Italy. With a weighted WhoScored rating of 7.28, the 21-year-old is shining as he aims to help Empoli away from the relegation zone.

5. Jeff Reine-Adelaide (Angers) - 7.47 weighted rating

Another former Arsenal star features again, with Jeff Reine-Adelaide ending the campaign strongly. While he couldn’t help Angers to a positive result in a 2-1 loss to PSG, the young Frenchman again excelled as the Ligue 1 side look to finish as high as possible, with Reine-Adelaide earning a weighted WhoScored rating of 7.47 of late.

4. Bartlomiej Dragowski (Empoli) - 7.56 weighted rating

Another week, another fine showing from goalkeeper Barlomiej Dragowski. While the young Pole made only five saves in Empoli’s 2-1 win at Fiorentina, the 21-year-old again exhibited his goalkeeping quality with interest continuing to grow in Dragowski.

3. Jean-Philippe Mateta (Mainz 05) - 7.56 weighted rating

Jean-Philippe Mateta registered just his second assist of the season in Mainz 05’s fine 2-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday as the young French forward continues to shine in Germany. Indeed, Mateta’s weighted rating of 7.56 is enough to make the top three this week with the striker going some way to realising his potential as the season comes to a head.

2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) - 7.93 weighted rating

Knocked off top spot, it’s not to say Trent Alexander-Arnold has faltered in recent weeks. Rather the Liverpool right-back continues to go from strength-to-strength having registered his ninth assist from his last nine outings in the Reds’ 2-0 win over Wolves on the final day of the campaign. It means Alexander-Arnold ended the campaign with a fine weighted WhoScored rating of 7.93.

1. Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen) - 8.03 weighted rating

Pipping Alexander-Arnold to first is a previous Liverpool target in the form of Kai Havertz. The teenage forward notched his 16th league goal of the season in a man of the match performance in Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-1 draw with Schalke and it means Havertz has now scored six goals in his last six league outings as he comes into the final game of the season with a weighted WhoScored rating of 8.03.
