Fanteam Fantasy Football: Salah to haunt Mourinho with superb Tottenham record

Before we run through our tips and XI for Fanteam Fantasy Football's weekly monster, we need to give props to the winner of last month's World Championship of Online Fantasy Football. The Scottish oil-rig worker banked €30,000 for his efforts to start 2020 on a high. Automatic qualification for the WCOFF cost a user €1050 but you were able to enter for much less through some of Fanteam Fantasy Football's qualifying contests. He did exactly that, qualifying for the WCOFF at the cost of just €2! What a profit! You can read the full interview with the lucky winner here.

Now it's time to refocus on the task at hand and prepare for the weekly monster, which has a prize pool of €50,000! We have run the numbers and picked our XI and are kindly going to assess three of our selections in greater details.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) vs Tottenham (11.5M)

Jose Mourinho would love nothing more than to become the first team to beat Liverpool in the Premier League this season when his Tottenham side host the runaway Premier League leaders on Saturday. It would be a typical achievement for Mourinho: the ultimate party popper. Unfortunately for the Portuguese, his Tottenham side are not in the right state to offer much resistence to Liverpool, particularly without star man Harry Kane leading the line.

Things could get much worse for Mourinho on Saturday. Mohamed Salah's troubles at Chelsea under Mourinho are well-documented and the Egypt international is best placed to down Tottenham this weekend. Salah has scored in each of the last two meetings between the two sides and has a total of five goals in the last six encounters.

Tim Krul (Newcastle) vs Manchester United (4.2M)

Manchester United host relegation strugglers Norwich on Saturday in the immediate aftermarth of their humilating 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester City in midweek. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's players are dropping like flies at the moment and he desperately needs to strengthen his squad this month. There will be no new players through the door before they face Norwich and Daniel Farke's side should travel with optimism of getting a positive result.

Tim Krul earned the highest WhoScored rating by a goalkeeper in a Premier League match this season (9.33) in the reverse fixture, as he saved two penalties as part of eight saves in Norwich's 3-1 defeat to the Red Devils. The former Newcastle shot-stopper will be the busier of the two goalkeepers at Old Trafford but Norwich can certainly frustrate United and Krul could be a big points scorer for such a cheap price.

Matt Doherty (Wolves) vs Newcastle (9.3M)

Wolves are looking to bounce back from two straight defeats this weekend and are given an ideal fixture to do just that. Nuno's side are hosting a Newcastle side that are winless in their last four and have lost three times in that time.

Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez have rightly taken a lot of the plaudits for Wolves' good season and that has allowed Matt Doherty's return to form to fly under the radar in the last month. The 27-year-old is always a useful addition to your fantasy football teams due to threat he poses in the attacking third. In fact, the Ireland international has scored in three of his last six league starts at home.
