Liverpool trio make Premier League form standings as Reds dominate
Liverpool are the dominant side in the Premier League form standings after their win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Elsewhere, players from Aston Villa, Brentford, Arsenal, Tottenham and Fulham are also represented.
10. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) - 7.46
The first of three Liverpool players in the top 10, Virgil van Dijk has been imperious at the back for the Reds in recent weeks following his return from a ban. The Dutchman's best rated performance of the season came in the victory over West Ham in September while Van Dijk also shone in victories over Everton and Nottingham Forest.
9. Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool) - 7.49
Another Liverpool star shining of late, Dominik Szoboszlai's best rated performance of the campaign came in the recent win over Nottingham Forest, where the Hungarian registered his first and second assists of the season. As the Reds maintain their title push, the summer signing has evidently been key.
8. Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) - 7.49
With Tottenham shining, captain Son Heung-Min has been vital. Only Erling Haaland (11) has scored more goals than the South Korean hitman (8) in the Premier League this season, with strikes against Fulham and Crystal Palace in recent weeks allowing Spurs to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
7. Joao Palhinha (Fulham) - 7.51
Rising up to seventh, Joao Palhinha makes the cut with the Portuguese particularly impressive in Fulham's 1-1 draw at Brighton last week. Not only did Palhinha score the equaliser at the AMEX, the ball winning machine chipped in with 10 tackles - no player has made more in a Premier League match this season - which helped push the 28-year-old up to seventh.
6. Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) - 7.54
Falling to sixth in the form rankings is last week's leader Kieran Trippier. The England international put in a sub-par display in Newcastle's 2-2 draw with Wolves last week and this has cost him his place at the top of the standings.
5. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 7.56
Mohamed Salah keeps his place at fifth in the form standings despite again getting on the scoresheet at the weekend. Nevertheless, to have kept his place in the top five for as long as he has speaks of the level with which the Liverpool forward continues to perform.
4. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) - 7.64
Dropping one place to fourth on the form rankings is Arsenal star Bukayo Saka. While Saka was unable to directly contribute to a goal in the Gunners' 5-0 win over Sheffield United, the young winger has been incredibly consistent of late, though he'll need to put in a much-improved showing at Newcastle to avoid dropping down the leaderboard.
3. Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa) - 7.69
The first of two Aston Villa players to make the top three, Douglas Luiz rises from eighth to third on the form standings after he put in another excellent performance in Villa's win over Luton at the weekend. The Brazilian has been one of Villa's star players this season and this is reflected in his placing in the top 10.
2. Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) - 7.70
No Ivan Toney, no problem. Brentford remain a threat going forward, and a key reason for that has been the performances of Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroon international has been directly involved in four goals across his last two appearances, scoring two, in wins over Burnley and Chelsea.
1. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 7.86
Topping the form standings this week is Aston Villa hitman Ollie Watkins. The Villans star was unable to directly contribute to a goal against Luton, though he still put in another fine display on the frontline. With a form rating of 7.86, the 27-year-old is the Premier League's form player.
