Arijanet Muric (Ipswich) - 8.98

With a WhoScored rating of 8.98, Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric is our Premier League Player of the Week following a superb display against Brighton on Saturday. The 25-year-old made a total of five saves, three punches and three high claims, to ensure the Tractor Boys left the Amex Stadium with a point and clean sheet in tow.

Matthijs de Ligt (Manchester United) - 8.95

After a difficult fortnight away with the Netherlands national team, new Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt bounced back in the best possible way at Southampton on Saturday. The 25-year-old headed the visitors in front 10 minutes short of half-time, while he also defended superbly, making two tackles, six clearances and one goal line clearance.

Dara O’Shea (Ipswich) - 8.07

Joining team-mate Muric in our XI is Ipswich defender Dara O’Shea, who also played a crucial part in the newly-promoted side’s clean sheet at Brighton on the weekend. The former Burnley man made two tackles, four blocks, six clearances and four interceptions, all while winning eight of the nine duels he contested. A colossal display at the back.

Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal) - 7.93

For the second season in a row, Arsenal defender Gabriel picked up the Premier League’s Player of the Match award in a Gunners victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The time around, however, the Brazilian was the match-winner for Mikel Arteta’s side, heading home a Bukayo Saka corner on 64 minutes. The 26-year-old also made some typically vital defensive contributions, including two tackles, two blocks and eight clearances, for a WhoScored rating of 7.93.

Amad Diallo (Manchester United) - 8.10

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo makes our Team of the Week, after returning to the starting XI against Southampton on Saturday, having started from the bench against Liverpool before the international break. In a fine all-round performance, the 22-year-old made six key passes - with one assisting Marcus Rashford for United’s second goal of the afternoon - as well as four tackles and four ball recoveries.

Dwight McNeil (Everton) - 8.50

Despite ultimately falling to defeat against Aston Villa, Everton attacker Dwight McNeil makes our XI following a strong showing on Saturday evening. The 24-year-old gave the Toffees the lead at Villa Park with a fine finish from just outside the box, while he also made a total of four key passes, one tackle and two ball recoveries.

Wilfried Ndidi (Leicester) - 8.15

Leicester picked up their second point of the season when they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Foxes will have Wilfried Ndidi largely to thank for their attacking efforts, as the Nigeria international provided the assist for both Jamie Vardy and Stephy Mavididi’s goals. Ndidi also made a further two key passes, two successful dribbles, three tackles and seven ball recoveries, to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.15.

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) - 8.09

The second Arsenal player to feature in our XI following Sunday’s north London derby victory is Gabriel Martinelli, who made two key passes, six successful dribbles, three tackles and three clearances, while also winning 11 duels, in a strong showing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Harvey Barnes (Newcastle) - 7.90

Newcastle attacker Harvey Barnes made it goals in back-to-back games when he came from the bench to fire home what eventually turned out to be the winner for the visitors at Molineux on Sunday. Barnes, who entered the fray at half-time, managed a total of three shots, two key passes and two successful dribbles, in an effective substitute display.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 8.64

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland became the first player to score nine goals in the opening four matches of a Premier League season when he bagged a brace in Saturday’s win over Brentford. Fresh off the back of back-to-back hat-tricks, the Norway international looked set to make it three trebles in a row against the Bees, but ultimately settled for just the two, from a total of six attempts on goal.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 8.25

Rounding off our XI is Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who finally got off the mark for the season when he netted a brace of his own in the win over Everton on Saturday. Watkins found the net with two of six shots on goal, while he also made one key pass, despite only attempting a total of six passes all game - all of which he completed.
