You vs WhoScored: Premier League Form Rankings Ahead of Gameweek 33

WhoScored.com are always bringing you new features, and here we continue with another one – in association with MondoGoal we present the Premier League’s most in-form players according to our ratings.

On Thursday you’ll be able to see who the WhoScored Expert has picked in our fantasy football XI for the week, but this should give you a little helping hand ahead of this week’s ‘You vs WhoScored’ contest, in which you can take on our in-house selections. These form rankings highlight the players with the highest WhoScored ratings over their past 3 appearances, each of whom must have featured in 3 of their team’s last 5 games.

Goalkeepers

After a display worthy of an 8.31 rating and the man of the match award in the draw with Everton at the weekend, Lukasz Fabianski jumps to the top of our formbooks, averaging 7.33 over his last 3 games. He made 7 saves at the Liberty on Saturday, and will look to help the Swans towards their highest ever Premier League points tally this weekend by aiming to shut out Leicester. Leicester have recorded back-to-back wins and so the Pole could be in for another busy afternoon.

Kelvin Davis is also amongst those to jump into the top 8 goalkeepers after again deputising adeptly for the injured Fraser Forster, who will drop out of the form rankings next week, as he has still, at this point, played in 3 of Saints’ last 5 games.

Defenders

Phil Jagielka (8.06) remains the most in-form defender in the Premier League, having played a key role in restricting Swansea to only a goal from the penalty spot in the aforementioned 1-1 draw in Saturday’s early kick off. He has been in the goals recently, and this week, while he missed out on the man of the match award for the first time in 3 matches, Jagielka was still Everton’s highest rated player.

Per Mertesacker (7.63) is the only new addition to the form rankings for defenders, after he helped Arsenal to another clean sheet in their wonderful run of recent form, attaining a rating of 8.10 against Burnley. That makes him the third most in-form defender in the Premier League, but with Arsenal playing in the FA Cup this weekend you’ll have to look elsewhere. Impressively, every other player retains their place in the top 10, having kept up their recent form, and will be decent options for this week’s selections.

Midfielders

The irrepressible Eden Hazard (8.34) remains the best pick in midfield, having wrestled a victory from the jaws of a bore draw at Loftus Road with the assist for Cesc Fabregas’ timely winner. A sure bet for player of the season, Hazard is still the most in-form Premier League midfielder, and of all Chelsea players that could help the Blues to an important win over Manchester United this weekend, Hazard is always going to be the most likely. Fabregas (7.77), too, appears in the form rankings this week.

Ander Herrera (8.28) and Juan Mata (8.28) might have other ideas, though, and at second and third in this list will pose Chelsea a significant threat at the other end. Yannick Bolasie comes into the top 10 after his perfect 10 at Sunderland last week and he could add to his goal tally at home to a surprisingly leaky West Brom. Fernandinho (7.75) makes up the top 10 in what has been a tough few weeks for Manchester City, but he has been one of few to come out his head held high.

Christian Benteke (8.81), reborn after Tim Sherwood’s arrival at Aston Villa, is the undisputed form striker in the Premier League, adding another goal at White Hart Lane this weekend to his hat-trick against QPR and strike at Old Trafford. He overthrows Olivier Giroud from the number 1 spot after his 6.46 showing at Burnley, with Glenn Murray (8.60) and Alexis Sanchez (8.45) now making up the top 3.

Murray has 6 goals and 3 assists in his last 6 appearances for Crystal Palace, and could again combine with Bolasie to devastating effect this weekend. Diafra Sakho (7.55), Graziano Pelle (7.53) – who ended a 14-game goalless streak with his strike against Hull – and Jamie Vardy (7.48) – who scored a wonderful winner at the Hawthorns, make up the top 10 in-form Premier League strikers.
