Player Form Rankings: Ex-Manchester United duo climb into Europe's top 20
There are eight new names in WhoScored.com’s latest top 20 form rankings from Europe’s top five leagues, including two former Manchester United outcasts that have been silencing any critics this season.
The only new qualifier under the rules of playing at least two of the last three league matches and six of the last eight is Memphis Depay, who registered another goal and assist for Lyon at the weekend.
The Dutchman has now had a direct hand in 25 Ligue 1 goals this season (14 goals, 11 assists), ten of which (5 goals, 5 assists) have come in his last six appearances in France’s top-flight.
It was a league that Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up in some style at the weekend, with a humbling 7-1 win over second place Monaco proving their dominance this season.
Angel Di Maria scored twice in said victory, and the Argentine has become quite a goal threat since the turn of the year, taking his league tally into double figures (11), with all but one coming in 2018. The 30-year-old is the highest climber onto the leaderboard, jumping 52 places from 61st to ninth.
Elsewhere Philippe Coutinho is also on the rise into seventh having assisted both goals in Barcelona’s victory over Valencia at the weekend, just behind former clubmmate Mohamed Salah (sixth), with the Egyptian bagging his 30th league goal of the season on Saturday.
Willian sneaks into the top twenty, while former Chelsea youngster Bertrand Traore is up to 16th, just behind Dimitri Payet, who took his assist tally into double figures (11) with two more at the weekend.
Meanwhile, the star man in France right now is Alassane Plea, with the Nice striker scoring his eighth goal in his last five Ligue 1 appearances, including each of his side’s last four. The 25-year-old is now closing in on Paulo Dybala in second, while Lionel Messi still leads the way despite seeing his rating drop over the last six matches after another goalless display.
