WhoScored's European Team of the Week: Man Utd and Arsenal youngsters forge formidable right flank
Manchester United star Amad makes the European Team of the Week following his standout display in Sunday’s win over Everton. Nantes, Brentford, Espanyol, Toulouse, Arsenal, Rennes, Freiburg and Lyon are also represented in the XI.
Patrik Carlgren (Nantes) – 8.46
Nantes managed a result at PSG on Saturday night thanks to an inspired performance from Patrik Carlgren between the sticks. The Swede shone on his first league start of the season, making nine saves in the 1-1 draw in the capital.
Amad (Manchester United) – 9.17
The Player of the Match from Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Everton, Amad makes the XI at right-back having earned a WhoScored rating of 9.17 against the Toffees. Amad provided a brace of assists from three key passes, while four successful dribbles and four tackles capped a fine showing from the Ivorian.
Nathan Collins (Brentford) – 8.45
Nathan Collins continued his good form with a solid display in Brentford’s 4-1 win over Leicester, earning a WhoScored rating of 8.45 in the process. Collins provided the assist for Kevin Schade’s hat-trick goal, that coming from his only key pass, and made a last man tackle to contribute towards his inclusion.
Leandro Cabrera (Espanyol) – 8.40
The experienced Leandro Cabrera partners Collins at the heart of the defence having been directly involved in two of Espanyol’s three goals in their 3-1 win over Celta Vigo. The Uruguayan defender netted with one of three efforts and provided one assist from two key passes to make the cut.
Gabriel Suazo (Toulouse) – 8.54
Rounding off the backline is Toulouse wing-back Gabriel Suazo, who earned a WhoScored rating of 8.54 for his showing in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Auxerre. The 27-year-old provided his second assist of the season in the win, that coming from two key passes, and he was vital in securing the clean sheet having made five interceptions, two tackles and two clearances.
Bukayo Saka scored and assisted for the third game running as Arsenal claimed a 5-2 win at West Ham on Saturday evening. Saka struck with his only effort and provided a pair of assists from four key passes on his way to a WhoScored rating of 9.47.
With a perfect WhoScored 10 rating, Ludovic Blas is the European Player of the Week. Rennes smashed Saint-Etienne 5-0 in Jorge Sampaoli’s first home game in charge at the weekend, with Blas the star of the show having scored with one of two shots and provided two assists from three key passes.
Joining Blas in the middle of the park is Freiburg's Lucas Holer after he earned a WhoScored rating of 9.80 in their 3-1 home win over Gladbach. The 30-year-old was directly involved in all three Freiburg goals, bagging a brace from four shots and registering one assist from five key passes.
Kevin Schade (Brentford) – 10.0
The second Brentford player in the XI also returned a perfect WhoScored 10 rating as Kevin Schade tore Leicester to shreds on Saturday. Schade was directly involved in all four Bees goals, bagging a hat-trick from five shots and provided one assist from one key pass to nail down the left wing spot.
Arnaud Kalimuendo (Rennes) – 9.39
The second Rennes player in the side features on the frontline. Arnaud Kalimuendo bagged a hat-trick against Saint-Etienne on Saturday, netting with three of six shots in the 5-0 home triumph. Two dribbles and one key pass helped the 22-year-old to a WhoScored rating of 9.39.
Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon) – 9.37
Joining Kalimuendo in attack is compatriot Alexandre Lacazette, who earned a WhoScored rating of 9.37 in Lyon’s 4-1 win over Nice. Lacazette, like Kalimuendo, also bagged a hat-trick at the weekend, hitting the back of the net with three of five shots to feature in the European Team of the Week.
