RB Leipzig dominate European best XI after Mainz thrashing

RB Leipzig ended their four-match Bundesliga winless run in comprehensive fashion as they romped to an 8-0 win over Mainz 05 on Saturday and dominate the WhoScored.com European team of the week. 

Goalkeeper: Salvatore Sirigu (Torino) - 8.81 rating

Torino lost the Derby della Mole 1-0 on Saturday evening, but it was down to Salvatore Sirigu that they remained in with a chance of overcoming Juventus. The goalkeeper managed nine saves and 17 accurate long balls in the defeat to help return a WhoScored rating of 8.81 as the Old Lady kept her spot at the top of the table, but it was due to Sirigu's solid showing in goal that helped keep the scoreline respectable. 

Right-back: Martin Montoya (Brighton) - 8.67 rating

Our Premier League player of the week with a WhoScored rating of 8.67, Martin Montoya put in a sold shift as Brighton secured a 2-0 win over Norwich, landing their third victory in their last four Premier League matches in the process. The Spaniard provided the assist for Leandro Trossard's opener, that coming from one of two key passes, and he defended well too, making four tackles and four interceptions.

Centre-back: Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester) - 8.38 rating

Caglar Soyuncu netted his first Premier League goal of the season in Leicester's 2-0 win at Crystal Palace to help keep the Foxes in the top four. The Turkey international's goal was from one of two shots in the victory at Selhurst Park, while Soyuncu was dominant with the ball in the air and on the ground as he won seven aerial duels and made eight clearances to seal a WhoScored rating of 8.38. 

Centre-back: Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus) - 8.37 rating

Another goalscoring centre-back partners Soyuncu at the heart of the defence, with Matthijs de Ligt enjoying his best rated Serie A performance following his big money arrival from Ajax. The Dutchman returned a WhoScored rating of 8.37 in Juventus' 1-0 win at Torino as he scored from one of three shots. Seven aerial duels won, seven clearances and two interceptions contributed to arguably his best display in a Juventus shirt to date.
