Goalkeeper: Bartlomiej Dragowski (Empoli) - 9.46 rating 

 

Kicking things off in the European team of the week is Empoli’s Bartlomiej Dragowski. Three weeks after his heroic display in a 0-0 draw at Atalanta, the Polish youngster was impressive again as Empoli secured a 1-0 win over Fiorentina. The 21-year-old made 10 saves in the victory as he returned a WhoScored rating of 9.46. 

 

Right-back: Ryan Fredericks (West Ham) - 10.0 rating 

 

Ryan Fredericks secured a perfect 10 rating in West Ham’s 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday, becoming the first defender since Thomas Vermaelen to return the score in 2009. The right-back scored his first league goal of the season in the comfortable victory, and, in addition, won 10 aerial duels, made four successful dribbles, four tackles and four clearances to round off a fine showing. 

 

 

Centre-back: Felipe (SPAL 2013) - 8.58 rating 

 

SPAL 2013 are now unbeaten in four league matches having romped to a 4-0 win at Chievo at the weekend with the experienced Felipe making the cut. The Brazilian has scored three goals this season, all of which have come in his last two league outings, with the centre-back returning a WhoScored rating of 8.58. On top of that, Felipe made five clearances to help SPAL 2013 to a clean sheet. 

 

Centre-back: Marcel Tisserand (Wolfsburg) - 8.41 rating 

 

Partnering Felipe at the heart of the defence is French centre-back Marcel Tisserand. He bagged his first league goal of the season in Wolfsburg’s 2-0 win over Nuernberg, hitting the back of the net with one of his two shots. What’s more, Tisserand won four aerial duels, made four tackles, three clearances and two interceptions to return a WhoScored rating of 8.41. 

 

Left-back: Domenico Criscito (Genoa) - 8.06 rating 

 

Rounding off the defence is Genoa left-back Domenico Criscito. The 32-year-old hit the back of the net for the first time this weekend in their 1-1 draw with Roma to help gain a WhoScored rating of 8.06. Criscito pushed forward well, completing two dribbles and making one key pass, and thrived defensively chipping in with seven tackles, five clearances and two interceptions. 

 

Right midfield: Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth) - 9.09 rating 

 

Bournemouth huffed and puffed and finally broke Tottenham down at the weekend as Nathan Ake headed Ryan Fraser’s injury time corner past Hugo Lloris to secure a 1-0 win. The goal marked Fraser’s 14th assist of the season and came from one of nine key passes, more than any other player in the Premier League this week. One successful dribble and one tackle helped the Scot gain a WhoScored rating of 9.09. 

 

Central midfield: Jose Campana (Levante) - 9.13 rating 

 

Three of Jose Campana’s four WhoScored man of the match awards this season have come in his last four league outings, as he returned a 9.13 rating from their 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano. The 25-year-old had a direct hand in three of the four goals scored, scoring with his only shot and seeing his four key passes return two assists, while three additional tackles capped a fine showing.

Central midfield: Alessandro Murgia (SPAL 2013) - 9.36 rating 

 

The second SPAL 2013 player to make the cut in the best XI, Alessandro Murgia registered his first and second assists of the season in the 4-0 win at Chievo, those coming from a whopping seven key passes, as he gained a WhoScored rating of 9.36. Three interceptions and two successful dribbles capped a fine showing for the Italian outfit. 

 

Left midfield: Eden Hazard (Chelsea) - 9.40 rating 

 

Eden Hazard has now registered more assists (15) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues, reaching the milestone in a man of the match performance in a 3-0 win over Watford. Those came from six key passes, while six successful dribbles saw the Belgian land a WhoScored rating of 9.40 against the Hornets. 

 

Striker: Gerard Moreno (Villarreal) - 9.64 rating 

 

It’s an all-La Liga frontline in the European best XI, with Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno earning his spot following a man of the match display despite a 3-2 loss at Real Madrid. The striker scored with one of his four shots in the loss at the Bernabeu and provided a late assist, that coming from one of six key passes. Five successful dribbles saw him land a fine WhoScored rating of 9.64. 

 

Striker: Santi Mina (Valencia) - 10.0 rating 

 

Valencia geared up for their Europa League semi-final second leg meeting with Arsenal in style as they thrashed Huesca 6-2 on Sunday night. Los Che may have lost the first leg 3-1, but with youngster Santi Mina landing a perfect WhoScored 10 rating at the weekend, they have a chance of overturning that deficit. Indeed, the 23-year-old had a direct hand in four goals, scoring two and assisting two, as Valencia romped to a morale-boosting victory.
