WhoScored Tipster: The Weekend's Top Tips

The Manchester derby dominates the weekend's fixture list and brings with it some fantastic odds on both sides of the table. There are profitable bets almost everywhere, while Italy offers something lower but arguably safer.  

LIKELY BETS 

Tottenham vs Aston Villa: HOME WIN @ 1.61 

One team involved in the Europa League fight with Liverpool, the other in the relegation battle; so neither will be relaxed, though Spurs are definitely in the better shape. Only a reinvigorated Benteke saved the Villans late on against QPR. Two scoring situations are listed in the WhoScored Match Forecast, and both relate to Tottenham. 

Udinese vs Palermo: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 1.91 

Both of these sides are facing ending the season in disappointment after plenty of negative results due to a lack of motivation in safe mid-table positions. This could bring about goals in this game as there could be a backlash, especially when considering that Udinese have just lost to Parma and that Palermo have gone 6 games without a win.  

Atalanta vs Sassuolo: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 1.95 

The fourth worst home defence faces the third worst away. When Sassuolo play away, both teams tend to score: that has happened 8 times in their last 10 games on the road in all competitions. Not to mention that Atalanta have both scored and conceded in 9 of their last 10 at home. Moreover, the Bergamaschi are getting dangerously close to the relegation zone, and with only 1 win in their last 7, they need to go for the win here.

TEMPTING BETS

Manchester United vs Manchester City: HOME WIN @ 2.70

It has been a couple of years since United were the real favourites in the Manchester derby - which for the fans will have seemed like an eternity. Within a month City have gone from fighting for both the Champions and Premier League to fearing a Champions League play-off that comes with their current fourth-placed standing. This tells you all you need to know about the differing moods the two sides will be in ahead of this game.

The Citizens know that Pellegrini is unlikely to be their manager next season and this uncertainty is wrapping up everything at the Etihad. On the other side Van Gaal's gang have been gaining more and more confidence having drifted away from the spotlight, and it's incredible to think they might end in second place if we only look to the headlines of two months ago. United's quick transitions might be too much to handle for City's shaky defence and it could be a game where Mata's skills could come to the fore, especially if he is able to stretch Pellegrini's backline. There is only one scoring scenario in the WhoScored match forecast, and it is about United being 'very likely' to 'score from a direct free-kick'.

Malaga vs Atletico Madrid: AWAY WIN @ 2.05

This will be a tough game for Simeone's men, but the colchoneros have only really conceded points and lost focus in some of the easier games they have faced, so it could be good to keep up the concentration before the Champions League quarter-finals kick-off. A look at WhoScored's match forecast shows that Atletico should come out on top.

Paderborn vs Augsburg: AWAY WIN @ 2.37

Augsburg, up in 6th place, might not be experiencing their best form at the moment but that's nothing compared to second-from-bottom Paderborn, with just 1 win in their last 17 games, stretching back to November! Strangely, Augsburg are the only Bundesliga side that have never drawn away, and this certainly doesn't seem like a game they are likely to lose… 

LONG-SHOT BETS 

Borussia Moenchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund: HOME WIN @ 2.90 

The Borussia’s clash sees Dortmund come into the fixture as underdogs for the first time in many a year. Fortunately for Jurgen Klopp, his players can focus primarily on league. Unfortunately for them, however, Gladbach are on a 7-match unbeaten run, the longest current streak of its kind in the Bundesliga. 

Valencia vs Levante: DRAW HT/VALENCIA FT @ 4.00 

The Derby di Valencia is a clear mis-match, especially at Mestalla. However, Valencia have gone in at the interval level at half time in 5 of their last 6 league games at home having struggled to establish a lead in the opening 45 minutes. 

Toulouse vs Montpellier: AWAY WIN @ 3.10 

This fixture presents Montpellier with their last chance to secure a Europa League spot next season, while Toulouse continue to sink into the relegation zone. There are favourable odds on a game where the WhoScored match forecast suggests it is 'Extremely Likely' that Montpellier 'will score a long shot'.
