Football INDEX: Arsenal target among those to invest in

Here we outline our five picks to invest in ahead of the weekend’s action across Europe’s top five leagues. The Premier League took a break last week, but it’s our first port of call this time around…

ABDOULAYE DOUCOURE – WATFORD (BUY)

Watford’s form has tailed off after a bright start under Marco Silva, who was recently relieved of his duties and replaced by Javi Gracia at the Vicarage Road helm. However, one constant has been the form of highly rated midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, whose stunning performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for the Hornets midfielder and for good reason. No central midfielder has scored more Premier League goals than Doucoure (7) this season while the 24-year-old has won possession in the midfield third more times (138) than any other player in the top-flight of English football. He currently has a buy price of just £1.01 per share on Football INDEX but as rumours of a possible transfer gain momentum, that’ll rise. Capitalise on his foreseeable media buzz now.

DAVIDE CALABRIA – AC MILAN (BUY)

AC Milan kick off a tough run of fixtures this weekend when the face Roma, a period that’ll see them come up against Arsenal in the Europa League, though Gennaro Gattuso has overseen a huge upturn in fortunes after succeeding Vincenzo Montella at San Siro. AC Milan are now unbeaten in their last 11 competitive matches, winning eight, and they’ll look to continue that good form on Sunday.

Davide Calabria has been a solid performer in defence following his promotion to the first team, with the Serie A side all the better with the 21-year-old in the XI. Indeed, their win ratio with Calabria starting is an impressive 63.6%, with that dropping to 35.7% without the youngster. With a buy price of £0.76 per share on Football INDEX, he could be worth an investment, particularly with a potential spot at the World Cup up for grabs…

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD – LIVERPOOL (BUY)

Another young right-back making a fine impression this season is Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is doing his starting chances for the Reds no harm. The 19-year-old has made 10 Premier League starts this term, and with Nathaniel Clyne sidelined and Joe Gomez struggling to return to full fitness, the teenager has another opportunity to consolidate a regular starting spot this weekend.

Liverpool welcome West Ham to Anfield and while they’ve had the issues at breaking down opponents that sit deep this term, you’d back the Reds to come away with all the spoils. Alexander-Arnold could have a key role to play against the Hammers on Saturday and with a buy price of £1.17 per share on Football INDEX, he may be one to add to your portfolio sooner rather than later.

KEPA ARRIZABALAGA – ATHLETIC CLUB (BUY)

While Kepa Arrizabalaga’s decision to sign a new contract ruled out any chance of a January exit, the youngster’s good form for Athletic Club means he is one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks. The 23-year-old’s buy price on Football INDEX is just £0.38 per share, but if he can maintain his good form between now and the end of the season, vultures will undoubtedly circle once more.

Athletic Club host goalshy Malaga this weekend and have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six home league matches and are unbeaten in that run. Kepa will be hoping for a World Cup callup this summer and if he can add another clean sheet this weekend, not only will his chances of a place in the Spain setup in Russia increase, but his buy price should too.

RYAD BOUDEBOUZ – REAL BETIS (BUY)

After winning ample plaudits in France, Real Betis eventually won the race to sign Ryad Boudebouz. The Algerian, though, has struggled for game time and consistency in Spain, but looks to be turning a corner in Seville. The 28-year-old is set to start against Levante at the weekend and despite a lack of regular action, is still averaging more key passes per 90 (2.1) than any other Real Betis player this season.

His creative quality is crucial for this free-flowing Betis outfit and if he can rediscover his form from his time in France, then a buy price of £1.00 per share could prove a bargain on Football INDEX as we enter the business end of the campaign.
